BURYING THE BILL

Let me tell you how this works.

You show up. You organize. You file public comments by the thousands. You pack the meetings. You get the National Association of Counties, the League of Cities, and the Conference of Mayors all on record in opposition. You make enough noise that even the industry knows it can’t push this through in broad daylight.

And then they stop trying to do it in broad daylight.

That’s where we are.

Congress plans on taking the core provisions of H.R. 2289, the bill that would strip your city and county of authority over where and how wireless infrastructure gets built in your neighborhood, and quietly slip it into an appropriations package. Not a standalone bill. Not something that has to stand on its own two feet in open debate. An appropriations bill. A must-pass spending package that funds the federal government and, by design, is nearly impossible to pick apart once it’s assembled and moving.

The appropriations bill hasn’t been scheduled yet. But it will be, before the midterms. You can count on it.

That is not a coincidence. That is a strategy.

WHAT WE ARE ACTUALLY TALKING ABOUT

H.R. 2289. If yo have been following my Substack ,you have heard about it. You may have even commented on it when the FCC opened its inquiry last fall, and thousands of you did, which is precisely why we’re in this situation.

Strip away the industry talking points and here is what this legislation does to your community:

A carrier can install a small cell on the utility pole in front of your home with no public hearing…. an by the way, the antennas, cables, and boxes are anything but small. No notice to you until the truck shows up. If your local government doesn’t act fast enough under newly tightened federal shot clocks, the permit is automatically “deemed granted.” Your city loses the right to collect fair compensation for the use of your own public streets. And, here is the one that should make your blood run cold because it does mine, local governments lose the ability to consider RF radiation health impacts in the permitting process, as long as a facility meets FCC exposure limits that haven’t been updated since 1996. A federal court has already ruled that the FCC failed to adequately justify those limits. The ruling sits there, unanswered, while the industry uses those outdated limits as a legal shield.

The U.S. Conference of Mayors, the National League of Cities, the National Association of Counties, and NATOA put it in writing, in a joint letter of opposition, calling these bills "an unprecedented federal intrusion into established local decision-making processes, favoring large broadband, telecommunications, wireless, and cable companies at the expense of residents and taxpayers."

That’s a bureaucratic organization speaking. When bureaucratic organizations use language like “unprecedented federal intrusion,” they are screaming.

WHY THE APPROPRIATIONS ROUTE

A standalone bill has to be debated. Amended. Voted on directly. Every member goes on record. Opponents can organize. Journalists can cover it. You can show up.

An appropriations package is different. It moves fast. It’s complex. It’s hundreds of pages. It funds things people depend on. Members of Congress vote for it because the alternative is shutting down the government, and buried inside, if you’re not paying attention, are policy provisions that would never survive a standalone vote.

This is how it’s done when the public has already said no, loud and clear.. You don’t ask again. You just slip it in somewhere people aren’t looking.

That is not an accident. That is a feature of modern Washington politics…. and it’s underhanded.

FOUR MONTHS. HERE’S WHAT YOU DO

The appropriations bill hasn’t been scheduled yet. That means the window is open. It will not stay open long.

Make three friends on this issue. Not followers. Not people who already know. Three actual humans in your actual life who have no idea this is happening, a neighbor, a parent from your kid’s school, someone from your church or farmers market or book club. Simply speak with them. Bring them in. Show them what’s at stake. A movement that doubles doesn’t need to start big. It needs to start now.

One post a week. Consistent. Clear. Shareable. Not hysteria, information. Give people one thing they didn’t know and one thing they can do. That’s the whole post. Do it every week until November.

Call your representatives. Not email. Call. Calls to district offices move members. Tell them specifically: “I am calling to oppose any appropriations bill that includes provisions from H.R. 2289. These provisions do not belong in a spending package. They should not be passed without a full, standalone, public vote. I will be watching.” That’s it. You don’t need to be an expert. You just need to be a constituent who is paying attention, and says so out loud.

The people who control what goes into the appropriations bill are on the House Appropriations Committee. If your representative sits on that committee, they need to hear from you first and loudest. If they are, call them.

Make it a midterm issue. Every single member of the House is up for reelection in November. They are right now deciding what they’ll defend and what they’ll run from. A member who votes to strip your community of its authority over wireless infrastructure, in a provision buried in a spending bill, right before an election, should have to answer for that vote at every town hall, every debate, every door knock between now and November. Make sure they know you’re going to ask.

NOT IN MY BACKYARD

The communities that were promised jobs and economic growth in exchange for hosting these data centers are wising up, and they are saying no.

A Morgan Stanley managing director recently lamented to the New York Times that organized resistance is slowing new data center builds overall, placing real strain on investors who bet big on this market. In his words: “A lot of the commitments and the build-out of data centers where it’s easy has kind of been done, so you’re getting marginally more difficult.”

He described needing to “realign” market expectations because “it’s hard to put a couple trillion dollars in the ground in a short time.”

Andy Cvengros, a co-lead at data center advisory firm JLL, put it even more bluntly: “The people who are trying to block or protest these things are much more well educated than they were before.” He noted that projects backed by very reputable groups, offering $50, $60, even $100 million contributions to local communities, are still getting shut down.

Good.

From Memphis to El Paso to Louisiana to Wisconsin, residents are learning what their communities are actually being asked to sacrifice: depleted water supplies, spiking electricity bills, increased pollution, and infrastructure strain, and nobody asked them if it was worth it.

They are finding their answer: no.

And now, there’s a new piece of evidence to add to the fight.

THEY ARE LITERALLY HEATING YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD

A University of Cambridge research team recently published findings that should be placed in the hands of every city council member, every zoning commissioner, every state legislator in America.

Their study analyzed two decades of satellite temperature data mapped against the locations of more than 6,000 AI data centers worldwide. What they found is not abstract. It is measurable. It is global. And it is already affecting 340 million people.

Land surface temperatures surrounding data centers increased by an average of 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit after each facility came online. In the most extreme cases, temperatures spiked by 16.4 degrees Fahrenheit. And here is what makes this even more alarming: the warming effect does not stop at the property line. Temperature increases were measured up to 6.2 miles away from the facilities.

This is not a localized anomaly. In Mexico’s Bajío region, now a major data center hub, researchers found unexplained temperature increases of 3.6 degrees over the past twenty years. The same pattern appeared in Aragon, Spain. The effect is consistent across continents, cultures, and climates.

We are not talking about minor fluctuations. We are talking about creating new heat islands in communities that are already living through a weather-volitle world, communities that were never asked for consent, never fully informed of the costs, and never given a meaningful voice.

Two-thirds of new data center facilities built since 2022 are located in water-stressed regions. A single modern AI facility can draw as much power as 100,000 homes. And when local grids can’t keep up, regions are sometimes forced to rely on older fossil fuel plants to prevent grid failures.

The infrastructure being built to power the future is poisoning the present.

THE FULL PICTURE

Let me put this together for you, because it matters that you see it whole.

As I covered in Part 1, thirty years ago, you paid for fiber internet that was never built. The money was collected. The promises were made. The regulations were lifted. The executives got rich.

Then the copper was cut, and you were handed a 5G antenna, while the fiber that should have been yours was rerouted to serve data centers.

Then Wall Street bundled those data centers and that fiber into securities and sold them to pension funds, earning returns from your monthly bill, while designating you as the riskiest, lowest-priority asset class.

And now, those same data centers, the ones built on infrastructure you paid for, financed with securities sold on your back, are warming your land, straining your water, taxing your grid, and doing it all without your consent.

This is not a series of unfortunate market failures. This is a system that was designed, through policy capture, regulatory indifference, and financial engineering, to extract maximum value from the American public while delivering as little as possible in return.

The good news, the only good news, is that people are waking up.

The more people learn about data centers, the more they resist them. Wall Street knows it. The tech executives know it. The Morgan Stanley managing directors know it. And they are worried.

What they are not counting on is how much we already know, and how much more we are going to find out.

We paid for the Information Superhighway. We never got it. Now they want to build a new tollway on the same land, heat the air above it, drain the water beneath it, and charge us again for the privilege.

I say: not this time.

SO WHAT TO DO WITH ALL OF THIS?

You fight. And here’s the thing…. people already are, and they are winning.

In 2025 alone, organized community resistance blocked or delayed 48 data center projects totaling over $156 billion in planned investment. In just the second quarter of 2025, $98 billion in projects were stopped, more than the entire total of all previous quarters combined. Amazon was forced to withdraw a 7.2 million square foot proposal in Louisa County, Virginia. A $400 million project in Fauquier County, Virginia was withdrawn entirely before it even reached a hearing. A court voided the rezoning for the massive Prince William Digital Gateway project.

The Prince William Digital Gateway fight just escalated further. The Virginia Court of Appeals has now sided with the lower court ruling that voided the rezoning… meaning the developers and county must now decide whether to take this fight all the way to the Virginia Supreme Court. What began as twelve Oak Valley homeowners filing a lawsuit has now survived two court victories and is forcing one of the most powerful data center projects in the world, 37 data centers on 2,100 acres next to Manassas National Battlefield, to face the highest court in the state. This is what staying power looks like.

In Indiana alone, over a dozen projects failed to get approved. Communities across Texas, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Michigan are showing up to public hearings, planting yard signs, launching petitions, and shutting these projects down, one zoning board at a time.

And it’s rattling Wall Street. Badly. These are not small wins.

Here is what’s working, and what you can do right now:

Show up to local government meetings. Zoning and planning commission meetings are where these projects live or die. Most data center proposals require rezoning, which means a public vote. That vote is your leverage. Find out what’s being proposed in your county. Most residents have no idea a project is coming until it’s too late. Don’t be one of them. Attend the meetings. Bring your neighbors.

I also recommend watching our recent “Financial Rebellion” on the steps you can take:

Demand transparency from your elected officials. Ask them directly through a Freedom of Information Request (FOIA):

Has a data center company approached our county? Have any nondisclosure agreements been signed? Who is negotiating on our behalf, and what are the terms? In 2023 and 2024, developers quietly acquired land and obtained approvals under cover of NDAs, deliberately obscuring their identities. That secrecy is a weapon. Sunlight is the antidote.

Call your representatives about the broadband betrayal. The $42.5 billion BEAD program meant to finally bring broadband to unserved communities is being strangled by the same fiber shortage that data centers created. Demand your representatives protect that program, and demand accountability for the $400–500 billion that was collected and never delivered.

Support the AI Data Center Moratorium Act. On March 25, 2026, Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez introduced the Artificial Intelligence Data Center Moratorium Act, legislation that would halt all new data center construction nationwide until strong federal safeguards are in place to protect workers, consumers, communities, and the environment. It is unlikely to pass in the current Congress. That does not make it irrelevant. It makes it a pressure point. Call your representatives. Tell them you support a moratorium. Tell them why. Every call, every letter, every constituent who shows up on record changes the political calculus.

Talk about it. Share this piece. Share the research. The data center industry spent years operating in deliberate obscurity, buying land quietly, filing under shell companies, signing NDAs with local officials, because they knew that awareness was their enemy. One organizer in Prince George’s County, Maryland put it plainly after her petition gathered 20,000 signatures: “The more we become aware of these projects, the more likely we are to stop them.”

That is the whole strategy. And it is working.

The broadband betrayal took thirty years and $500 billion because no one connected the dots while it was happening. The data center buildout is happening right now, in plain sight, at a speed and scale that dwarfs anything that came before it. The window to act is open.

The question is whether enough of us will walk through it.

THE PROMISE THAT WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE KEPT

Let’s go back to the 1990s. Bill Clinton and Al Gore were selling the “Information Superhighway;” a bold national vision where fiber optic cable would replace aging copper wire to every home and business in America. The deal was locked in state by state. Phone companies would get rate increases on your phone bills, massive tax breaks, and sweeping deregulation in exchange for building out this infrastructure.

The promise was crystal clear: by 2010, America would be the world’s first fully fiber-connected nation. Speeds of 45 megabits per second, symmetric. Gigabit speeds by 2014.

So what happened?

By 2014, the United States ranked 25th in the world in download speeds and 40th in upload speeds.

Twenty-fifth.

We were beaten by countries a fraction of our size with a fraction of our resources. We were beaten by countries that didn’t make the promises we made.

And the money? Somewhere in the neighborhood of $400 to $500 billion were collected from American households through phone bills, rate increases, and Universal Service Fund fees over thirty years. That’s roughly $2,000 per household.

Gone.

And lest you think this is ancient history, check your phone bill tonight. The Universal Service Fund fee is still being charged to every American with a phone or broadband account, right now, in 2026. The contribution factor, the percentage telecoms collect from you and pass to the fund, has been increasing, hitting 38.1% in October 2025 before settling to 37.6% this January. The fund collects between $5 and $8 billion per year from Americans. And after thirty years of this fee, after $400–500 billion in collected rate increases, after promise after broken promise, 30 million Americans still don't have broadband access.

That is the balance sheet of this crime. They are not done collecting. They have never stopped.

AT&T, Verizon, CenturyLink. They took the money and invested it elsewhere. Overseas ventures. Wireless networks. Executive compensation. Meanwhile, they deployed cheap, slow DSL over the same aging copper wires the deal was supposed to replace. DSL, by the way, was considered an inferior technology even in 1992; the year before they made the deal.

Connecticut’s phone company promised to spend $4.5 billion wiring the entire state with fiber by 2007. It was never done. AT&T promised 100% broadband coverage of 22 states as a merger condition. Never delivered.

Not one executive was ever held accountable.

Not once, in any of its annual broadband reports, did the FCC formally address the broken state-by-state fiber commitments. Instead of enforcement, these companies received more deregulation. The pattern continued for three decades.

They said anything to get the rate increases and the deregulation. Then they pocketed the money and moved on. And the regulators, the ones paid with your tax dollars to protect you, let them.

NOW THEY’RE PULLING THE COPPER & HANDING YOU 5G

Here’s where it gets worse. Much worse.

AT&T has announced it will shut down all copper landline service by 2029. Verizon, Frontier, and others are doing the same. But in roughly half of AT&T’s geographic service area, they have not built fiber and have no plans to. Those customers, often rural, elderly, and lower-income, many of them my friends and neighbors, are being handed 5G wireless home internet instead.

AT&T’s own words tell the story plainly: “Wireless-first is the name for our wire center areas where we have not built and do not plan to build residential fiber.”

That covers 50% of their land area.

What does 5G wireless home internet actually mean? A cellular antenna outside your home. Slower than fiber. Less reliable. Affected by weather. Hackable. Biologically and environmentally unsafe. Shared bandwidth. And not, in any way, shape, or form, the hardwired fiber connection that was promised and paid for over thirty years.

Meanwhile, AT&T is building fiber, in the most profitable, densest, highest-income markets. Everyone else gets the radiating antenna.

The copper gets cut. The fiber runs past your street to serve the data center down the road. You get a pole and a bill.

THE NEW VILLAIN AT THE TABLE: ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Now enter a force that wasn’t in the original script: the AI gold rush.

Here’s what most people don’t know yet: AI data centers require an extraordinary amount of fiber. We’re talking 16 times more fiber per server cluster than a traditional server rack. And because the tech giants, Microsoft, Google, Meta, Amazon, are racing to build these facilities at a scale that defies comprehension, they are creating a genuine national fiber shortage.

Global data center fiber demand surged 75.9% in 2025 alone. By 2027, data centers will consume 30% of all global fiber, up from just 5% in 2024. Lead times for fiber cable have gone from 8-12 weeks to over 60 weeks. Prices are up 30% and rising. One manufacturer publicly said data centers are “sucking up all the fiber production capacity.”

Meanwhile, the federal government launched a $42.5 billion program, the Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD) program, to finally, finally bring broadband to unserved American homes. The program meant to fix thirty years of broken promises is now competing in the same supply chain against Microsoft ($80 billion in AI data centers in 2025 alone), Google, Meta, and Amazon.

Those companies have more purchasing power than a federal broadband grant. You can guess who wins.

We are running a federal program to fix a thirty-year crime against American consumers, and it is being outbid for supplies by the same industry that benefits from everyone else’s connectivity being delayed.

But I’m not done yet.

WALL STREET’S FINISHING MOVE: SELLING IT BACK TO YOU

And now we arrive at the final layer of this heist, the part that should make your blood run cold. It did mine.

The fiber networks, built on publicly subsidized infrastructure, subsidized by your phone bills and tax breaks for three decades, are now being bundled into financial investment products called Asset-Backed Securities and sold to institutional investors. This market tripled in 2025 to $12 billion and is projected for the same in 2026. By some projections, annual data center securitization could reach $30 to $40 billion per year by 2026 and 2027.

Here’s how the machine works: Fiber networks get bundled into bonds. Wall Street investors, pension funds, hedge funds, insurance companies, they buy the bonds and earn returns from your monthly broadband bill. Kid-you-not.

So, the more you pay for your service, the more Wall Street makes.

And here is what they will never tell you: the telecoms have every financial incentive to keep raising your rates. Higher bills mean stronger cash flows. Stronger cash flows mean better-performing bonds. Better-performing bonds make their securities more attractive to Wall Street, which makes it easier to bundle and sell the next round. And the round after that.

Your bill going up is not a mistake or an unfortunate side effect. It is the point. You are not the customer. You are the product. You are the engine that runs the machine.

And who gets the best returns?

The investors literally said it themselves: dark fiber, dedicated lines to data centers and corporations, offers “more consistent cash flows than consumer broadband.” Residential customers are the lower-value, riskier collateral. You are not the priority. You are the bottom of the risk stack.

The consolidation is accelerating. Verizon just acquired Frontier. Bell Canada bought Ziply Fiber. T-Mobile partnered with private equity firm KKR. AT&T bought Lumen’s fiber business for $5.75 billion. The infrastructure is rapidly concentrating into fewer, private equity-backed hands.

Americans paid to build the infrastructure. Telecoms kept the money and built as little as they could get away with. Private equity now owns what was built. Wall Street is selling it back as investment bonds.

The public is at the bottom of every list.

It was New Year’s Eve 2005, and I was in New Orleans.

I had come to the city chasing Hurricane Katrina stories, documenting with my video camera the human wreckage left in her wake, when someone insisted I seek out a particular woman. You must capture her story. So I went, I found her. We met at the iconic Tipitina's, saddled up at the bar, chatted, and within the space of an evening had struck up the kind of fast, effortless friendship that New Orleans seems to conjure out of thin air. She invited me to her home for an intimate New Year's gathering with old friends, and I said yes.

It’s not like I had other plans.

What I didn’t know was where that evening would take me. Somewhere in the warmth of that gathering, with the city humming its strange voodoo magic outside, Richard, a man who did past-life regressions professionally, was among the guests. In New Orleans, on New Year’s Eve, with new friends urging you forward, you say yes to things.

So, with a little encouragement, I soon found myself ‘going under,’ back into something I had no framework for and have never fully been able to explain.

I had been given a directive by Richard: cross a fog-laden creek, wait for the fog to rise, and relay what I saw on the other side.

When it did, I was standing, looking up a gently sloped hill, surrounded by mangled trees and a silent meadow. Not a thing was alive. It either resembled what I had been traveling through, hurricane-ravaged New Orleans, or the remnants of a fresh war. I couldn’t tell, initially.

Not until Richard asked, “Are you a man or a woman?”

I responded, “I don’t know. I haven’t a clue.”

Until I looked down and saw wool pants tucked into my leather-clad boots. I was in uniform. Clearly a man. A man in war. I knew it was winter because I could see my breath swirl in the crisp, frigid air.

By the end of that regression, I came to the gut-wrenching realization that I had been responsible for the deaths of dozens, if not hundreds, of men. I had, in some long-ago chapter of the human story, wiped that place clean of its men.

What I did not know until the following morning was that my host, the woman whose home I was a guest in, had undergone her own past-life regression ten months earlier with Richard. As instructed, she too had been prompted to cross that same fog-covered creek. And when she did, she arrived on the other side not as a soldier, but as a little girl, looking around, bewildered, asking the same question over and over again:

Where are all the men? What happened to all the men?

Two strangers. The same time period. The same creek. The same war-torn meadow. The same deathly silence on the other side.

She had arrived at the absence. I had, apparently, been its cause.

I have carried that experience like a stone in my pocket ever since. And lately, these past weeks especially, it has begun to feel less like a past life memory and more like a premonition.

Because I look at what is unfolding in this country right now and I hear that little girl’s voice again:

Where are all the men? What happened to all the men?

WHAT POSSIBLY LIES AHEAD

No longer in the 1860s or 2005, for that matter.

Beginning April 20th, 2026, American men between the ages of 17 (with parental consent, meaning your son) and 42 can now be called upon to serve. The age ceiling has been quietly expanded. And while the drums of war beat louder by the day, with Iran positioned as the next theater of engagement, I want you to sit with one simple question: Do you know a single man in your life who is lining up to volunteer for a ground invasion of Iran?

Neither do I.

However, and this is the important part, under broader militia laws, able-bodied men between 17 and 45 are subject to compulsory conscription for militia service under “emergency conditions.” US Military And notably, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told CBS News that "we're willing to go as far as we need to in order to be successful" when asked about a draft.

WE’VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU

Iran has a reported million-man army. They have been preparing for exactly this scenario for decades. They knew they were on ‘the list,' and they have had twenty-five years to study how to make a ground invasion into an American graveyard. This is not a pop quiz for them. This is the final exam they have been studying for nearly their entire national lives.

Nobody in their right mind signs up for that. Which tells me, with cold clarity, that the draft is coming.

And not a draft that pulls from the comfortable corridors of power. It never does. We all know this. It will be a draft that reaches into the backbone of this country; our construction workers, our electricians, our long-haul truck drivers, our utility linemen, our plumbers, the men who hold the physical infrastructure of daily American life together with their hands. The men who, when they go, leave behind not just families, but the very functioning of the communities we live in.

And even those who survive, those who come back, will not come back the same. War doesn’t allow for that. The body may return. The spirit is often left behind on some foreign ground. This is not an abstraction. Every generation that has sent its sons into the killing fields has learned this the hard way. We are not exempt from that lesson simply because we’d prefer not to face it.

The economic and societal unraveling that would follow? That doesn’t need much imagination either.

COVID 2.0

I say this as someone who was keenly aware of, and actively fighting, the machinery of engineered chaos when it was first unveiled at scale in 2020. The same playbook. The same players.

Fortunately many more see this pattern today than they did 5-6 years ago. If you're reading this, you get it. Iran didn't arrive at this moment by accident. It was cornered, poked, and provoked with methodical precision for years. The engineered demolition of the world we have known is accelerating, and we are watching it happen in real time.

And the end game? Lock us down. Once and for all. Not with masks and mandates this time. But with absence. With grief. With the hollow quiet of homes where men used to be.

All through the engineered energy crisis of madmen’s making.

But here is what I know about that playbook, and it’s one fatal flaw:

It didn’t account for the mothers.

During COVID, when the institutional walls seemed impenetrable and the official narrative felt inescapable, it was the women, the mothers, who rose first and loudest. They showed up at school board meetings. They pulled their children out of classrooms. Started homeschools. They built networks the experts said couldn’t exist. Returned to county meetings regularly, forced outside, exiled from their county government meetings, standing in seasons of rain, wind, heat, and forest fire smoke. They were mocked, dismissed, and surveilled, and they/we kept going anyway.

The same force is being called forward now. I can feel it. I am hearing a cacophony of voices, women’s voices, saying exactly what I am saying. This is not a fringe whisper. This is a gathering roar.

THE CALL TO MOTHERS

Speaking of war… Mother’s Day was never meant to be about flowers.

After the Civil War, a war that (who knows, I may have played a role in during a past life) abolitionist Julia Ward Howe made a Mother's Day call to women to protest the carnage of war. In 1870, having lived through its bloodshed and watching the Franco-Prussian War ignite overseas, she asked a question that burns as bright today as it did then:

“Why do not the mothers of mankind interfere in these matters, to prevent the waste of that human life of which they alone bear and know the costs?”

She called upon mothers to leave their homes for one day a year and work for peace in their communities. She translated her proclamation into several languages and traveled around the world. Her proclamation declared, in words that should stop you cold: “Our sons shall not be taken from us to unlearn all that we have been able to teach them of charity, mercy and patience.”

That was the original Mother’s Day. Not a box of chocolates or a morning of momosas. A declaration of war against war itself, issued by a woman who had seen enough carnage to know that no political calculation was worth a single son’s life.

When the holiday was eventually institutionalized by President Wilson in 1914, just before the start of World War I, it had already been stripped of Howe’s anti-war message. The commercial machine moved in. The florists. The card companies. Advocation of peace transformed into a mechanism of political derailment and profit; a profound act of maternal resistance was flattened into a day of sentiment.

That co-opting was not an accident. It never is.

What Julia Ward Howe understood, what the mothers before us always understood, is that the natural, primal instinct of a mother is to protect her offspring. It is not a political position. It is not a left or right conviction. It is something written into the bone. And when that instinct is activated at scale, when mothers across a nation look at what is being done with their children and say no, not this, not my son, it becomes one of the most powerful forces in human history.

We are at that threshold.

I am not a mother. But I would lay my life down to stop the senseless marching of men into a slaughter designed to feed a blood-soaked appetite for sacrifice, a sacrifice that would hollow out this country from the inside. A sacrifice that would create a void no policy paper, no economic stimulus, and no government program could ever fill.

At what point do we say: I would rather die standing than on my knees?

This is one of those times.

Mothers - rise.

Not because someone told you to. Because the fog has lifted enough that you can see, across that creek, what’s on the other side.

And you already know the answer to the question.

Where are all the men?

Don’t let us be the generation that has to ask it again.

Sprinklers have been initiated. So there I was, out in the yard, moseying about, doing what needed to be done, and mourning the loss of a family of dried and dead plants.

And then an old dear friend passed by.

We hadn’t connected much during COVID. For the most part, we have found ourselves on opposite sides of things. A divergence of opinions and choices. Different ways of seeing the world. And yet, there was still a thread of a friendship that never fully died like my front yard this spring.

So, we stopped, caught up, and began lamenting the state of the world today. What started as two people coming from different places slowly revealed something neither of us expected. We had come full circle. And the conclusion we both landed on, without hesitation, was simply this…. nothing feels right.

In that moment, in that simple and honest recognition, a new bond was formed. And it got me thinking. Because if two people, who don’t always see eye to eye, can find each other in that truth, imagine how many millions of others are standing in that same place right now. Feeling it.

Every single day, in our bank accounts, in our doctor’s offices, at the DMV, in the courtroom, at the ballot box. The stranglehold is real, and it is everywhere. And yet, most people have no idea that there are actual, lawful, time-tested ways to loosen that grip. Not by fighting. Not by protesting. Not by screaming into the void on social media. But by simply understanding who you actually are and what rights and options you genuinely have.

I sat down with two people I deeply respect, Michael Joseph and Marsha Anne, both locals doing extraordinary work not just here in our backyard, but all across the country and around the world. They are part of the Sacred Honor Educational Fellowship, and what they are teaching people is nothing short of life-changing. We’re talking about the distinction between the public and the private. Between the corporate fiction and the living, breathing, flesh-and-blood human being that you actually are. Between being presumed a subject of a system, and knowing your true standing outside of it.

This is not fringe. This is the law. This is history. This is your birthright.

And, yes, I know this stuff can feel like a lot at first. It’s a deep rabbit hole. But what Michael and Marsha do so brilliantly is make it digestible, practical, and real because they’ve lived it and applied it. This isn’t theory. This is people, thousands of them, actually taking back control of their lives, their assets, their families, and their futures.

WHY NOW

The Strait of Hormuz has been effectively shut down. The petrodollar is under direct threat. Social systems are fraying at the seams. And we have been deliberately, systematically isolated from each other, we saw exactly how that was done during COVID, to the point where most of us no longer know our neighbors’ names.

Time banking is the direct answer to all three of those problems. It doesn’t require a functioning dollar. It doesn’t require the internet or the power grid. It requires only your time, your neighbors, and a notebook.

I ran a Time Bank in Nevada County for almost six years, over 300 members, thousands of hours exchanged, two minor disputes in the entire lifespan of the bank, both resolved in minutes. I know this works. I’m not speaking theoretically. And the offline, notebook version I’m teaching now is actually simpler, faster, and frankly more fun than anything we did online.

Two possible outcomes from here: everything stabilizes and you’ve built a stronger community anyway. Or things get tight, the dollar loses value, and you are already operating a parallel economy that doesn’t need any of their systems.

Either way, you win.

WHAT TIME BANKING IS… AND ISN’T

Time Banking is not bartering. Bartering requires a perfect, simultaneous match, the seamstress who needs a mechanic finding the mechanic who needs sewing done. That’s hard, awkward, and rare.

Time banking is an accounting system. A third entity, your time bank, your notebook, your administrator, keeps track of every exchange. You give an hour, you earn an hour. You have a 15-minute exchange of services, you earn 15 minutes. Then, you spend that time receiving someone else’s services. The currency is your time, and it is tracked down to the minute.

We have currencies backed by gold, oil, lumber, and zeros on a screen. Nobody ever told us we could back a currency with kindness and neighborly deeds. But we absolutely can. The accounting is what matters, not the instrument.

Here’s the shift: when you stop believing that nothing of value changes hands without a dollar, everything changes. What our great-grandparents did naturally. What the Amish still do today, they don’t even need a notebook. That’s the goal. The notebook is the training wheels.

A BRIEF HISTORY

Time banking traces back to post-WWII Japan, where a woman named Teruko Mitsushima literally fainted from overwork and decided there had to be another way. It evolved in the 1950s as young Japanese people leaving their villages kept handwritten honor-system notebooks to ensure their elderly parents were cared for back home, good deeds done locally that translated into care given elsewhere.

Dr. Edgar Cahn brought it to the United States in the 1980s. He saw the perfect storm coming: baby boomers aging, social services drying up, the dollar weakening, and neighbors no longer knowing neighbors. He called it the collapse of the core economy, the family, friends, and community networks that used to hold us together, replaced by the dollar economy, where you simply pay for everything that used to be done out of love and reciprocity. He called his solution Time Banks USA.

Today there are millions of time bank members in over 40 countries. The idea is universal because it is human. And the version I’m teaching you doesn’t require any of the technology, just the original spirit of it: a notebook, a pen, and your people.

THE FIVE CORE VALUES

These aren’t suggestions. These are the foundation. If your time bank practices these, it will work, whether you have five members or five hundred.

1. ASSETS

Every human being has something to contribute. Every single one. Can you babysit? Walk a dog? Bake? Drive someone to an appointment? Teach a skill? Sit with someone who is lonely? There is not one person alive who has nothing to offer. Not one.

2. REDEFINING WORK

Some work is beyond price. Raising healthy children, revitalizing neighborhoods, building strong families, making communities work, not the UN 2050 version, the local, tiny, mom-and-pop version, that kind of work needs to be honored, recorded, and rewarded. That’s what your notebook does.

3. RECIPROCITY

Helping works better as a two-way street. The question isn’t “how can I help you?” The question is “how can we help each other build the world we both want to live in?” This means you must ask for help just as readily as you give it. Americans are extraordinarily generous, and terrible at asking. That has to change. The reciprocity is what makes the whole thing work.

4. SOCIAL NETWORKS

We need each other. Networks are stronger than individuals. Communities are built on sinking roots, building trust, and making commitments. Time banking is the mechanism for rebuilding the social fabric that has, by design, been frayed and destroyed to isolate us, weaken us, and make us dependent on their systems. It’s time to reweave it.

5. RESPECT

Every human being matters. A child’s contribution matters. An elderly person’s contribution matters. A professional’s hour is worth the same as a farmer’s hour. Respect people where they are right now, not where you hope they’ll be someday. Think of the Swiss, their entire culture is built on the foundation of mutual respect, and it shows in how they treat each other and do business.

This is not about competition. This is about collaboration. This 2010 TED Talk, lays out the philosophy in a most humorous way:

THE HOUSE RULES

When you gather your people and launch your time bank, lay these out together. Everyone agrees. Then you begin.

HOUR FOR HOUR

One hour of your time = one time dollar. Period. A lawyer’s hour is worth the same as a dog walker’s hour. We are equal in this economy. Exceptions can be negotiated, if someone with rare expertise wants two hours for an hour of highly specialized work, that’s between you and them, agreed upfront. But the spirit of time banking is equality. Don’t let anyone tell you their time is worth more than yours.

NEIGHBORLY DEEDS: NOT EXOTIC SERVICES

Don’t look for a brain surgeon in your time bank. These are neighborly acts: cleaning gutters, walking a dog, driving someone to the doctor, cooking a meal, going to a movie with an elderly neighbor who just wants company. One of the most requested services in time banks across the country? Companionship. Simply having someone to walk with, share coffee with, sit with. That is the work that matters.

OFFER ONLY WHAT BRINGS YOU JOY

If you hate painting, don’t offer it. If you love to cook, offer that. If you can climb a ladder without fear, offer gutter cleaning (one of the skills that I offered in our time bank). If you’re a natural storyteller or a retired teacher, offer mentorship. Your energy is part of the exchange. Show up with joy and the whole thing hums. Show up resentfully and everybody feels it.

IT IS A TWO-WAY STREET: ASK FOR HELP

This is the one that trips Americans up the most. We will give the shirt off our backs, but we will not ask for anything. You must ask. Share your needs. Put it out there in your group (or other neighboring groups). Make your requests known. If you only give and never receive, the reciprocity breaks down and the bank fails. Get out of the “I’ve got this covered” mindset. You don’t have to do everything alone. That’s the whole point.

RESPOND WITHIN 48 HOURS

Time is the currency. If someone reaches out to you, they are spending their time to do it. Even if the answer is no, respond within 48 hours. Leaving someone hanging wastes their most valuable resource. Your word and your responsiveness are your credit score in this economy.

REIMBURSE OUT-OF-POCKET COSTS

Time bank hours cover your labor. They do not cover your gas, your groceries, or your materials. If someone drives you to the airport (an hour and fifteen minutes each way), you give them time bank hours for their time driving to and the return AND reimburse them for gas and wear on the car. If someone cooks you a meal, you cover the ingredients. Settle this before the exchange, never after. Be explicit, be clear, and honor what you agreed to.

NEGOTIATE EVERYTHING UPFRONT

Every exchange should be fully discussed before it happens: approximate of how many hours, what is included, what is not, whether there are any reimbursable costs. No surprises. No assumptions. This protects both parties and keeps trust intact.

BUILD TRUST: YOUR WORD IS GOLDEN

Start with your immediate circle, people you already trust. Do as you say you will do. Follow through. Be the kind of person you want to do business with. If someone disappoints you, doesn’t follow through, isn’t trustworthy, they simply won’t be invited into your inner circle. The time bank is self-governing. Your reputation is everything here.

COMMON SENSE APPLIES

If your friend rushes to the ER, you don’t charge them two time bank hours. If someone you love is going through chemo, you sit with them because you love them. Time banking is a tool, not a replacement for being human. Use common sense. The goal ultimately is what we had with our great-grandparents, and what the Amish still have, where you just show up and help because that’s what community does. The notebook is just the training wheels to get us back there.

HOW TO START YOUR OWN TIME BANK

You can start today. Literally today, with five people and a spiral notebook. Here is the exact path:

STEP 1: WHO ARE YOUR PEOPLE?

Ask yourself: who do I trust? Who is in my immediate circle, family, neighbors, co-workers, church members, garden club, your block? Start there. You don’t need to advertise to strangers. You need five to ten people who already have some relationship. Give your time bank a name, something that means something to your group. “The Elm Street Time Bank.” “First Baptist Community Exchange.” “The Westside Circle.” A name makes it real.

STEP 2: ASSESS YOUR ASSETS

Go around the room (or the group text) and ask: what do you love to do? What brings you joy? What do you have; skills, tools, space, time, knowledge? Look at what you own too. A video projector you’re not using. Plates and chairs for events. A piece of land that could become a community garden. A spare room. A truck with a ladder. Your assets may surprise you. Organizations, churches, and schools should especially take stock; a meeting room, a commercial kitchen, a plot of land, all of these can be part of the exchange.

STEP 3: EVERY PERSON GETS THEIR OWN NOTEBOOK

This is critical. Do not share accounts. Do not bank in someone else’s name. Every individual has their own notebook, their own account, their own record. If a wife says “my husband Bob can fix your toilet” and Bob doesn’t show up, that is her reputation on the line. Each person is responsible for their own word. A teenager can have their own account. A senior in high school could build a time bank as a class project. Each account is individual.

STEP 4: START YOUR NOTEBOOK WITH TWO HOURS

Every new member begins with two opening hours; a gift from the time bank to get you started. Write “2 hours” at the top of your opening balance on your first page. You now have currency. Start with small exchanges, one hour, an hour and a half, not big commitments. Let the trust build naturally before you take on anything major.

STEP 5: GATHER MONTHLY

This is non-negotiable if you want your time bank to thrive. Meet at least once a month, in person, at someone’s home, at a church, at a park, wherever feels natural. Have a potluck. Share what’s been exchanged. Talk about what people need and what they can offer. These monthly gatherings are where the community actually gets built. They are also where new members join and where trust deepens over time.

STEP 6: BALANCE YOUR ACCOUNT MONTHLY

At the end of each month, tally your opening balance, your total hours given, your total hours received, and your closing balance. Share this with your time bank administrator. This keeps everyone honest, surfaces any imbalances, and gives you a clear picture of how active you’ve been. The accounting is what makes this a currency, not just nice neighborliness.

STEP 7: BE PROACTIVE

Don’t wait for your phone to ring. Look at what your neighbors can offer and reach out directly. “I know Joe builds chicken coops, I wonder if he’d build me a dog house.” Don’t assume someone’s official “offer list” is their complete skill set. Ask. Have the conversation. You may find out your neighbor who “just does basic stuff” is actually a master gardener, a former nurse, or someone who can teach your kid to play guitar. You will not know until you ask.

WHO CAN JOIN: AND WHO CAN’T BE LEFT OUT

Anyone. A person, a family, a child, a teenager, a senior citizen, a church, a school, a business, a rotary club, a garden club, a neighborhood association. If you are a city official reading this: the City of Nevada City became an official time bank member and it cost them nothing, volunteers showed up for every city event and it was one of the most rewarding things I was part of. The sky is the limit on who can participate.

Speaking of skies, I want to plant a visual in your mind of what it is you are trying to achieve on a grand scale:

There is a phenomenon in nature so breathtaking it stops people in their tracks; the starling murmuration. Tens of thousands of birds moving together across the sky in a single, fluid, shape-shifting mass, swooping and turning in perfect unison without a conductor, without a leader, without a central command. No single bird is in charge. Each starling simply responds to the five birds immediately around it, watching, adjusting, staying connected, and from that simple act of radical local awareness, something extraordinary and almost impossibly beautiful emerges.

Scientists have studied it for decades and still marvel at it. This is exactly how a time bank community works at its best. You don't need a headquarters or a hierarchy. You don't need a government program or a bank's permission. You need your 5 members, your immediate circle, the people right around you, responding to each other, supporting each other, staying connected. And when enough of those small circles of trust begin moving together, what emerges is something that can weather any storm, shift direction on a dime, and take your breath away.

The starlings don't ask who is in charge. They just show up and fly together.

That is the goal.

A NOTE ON ELDERLY AND DISABLED MEMBERS

This came up directly in webinar Q&A and it is so important. If someone is worried they can’t give enough, if they’re elderly, homebound, or dealing with a disability, remind them: can you make a meal? Darn socks? Bake pies? Teach someone how to garden even if you can’t kneel anymore? Mentor a child in math, writing, history, a life skill? Can you tell stories? Teach etiquette? Share decades of lived wisdom? The elderly hold knowledge that is on the verge of extinction, traditional skills, historical memory, ways of living that the world desperately needs right now. Connect the elders to the young people. A mentorship time bank is one of the most powerful structures you can build. There is not one person alive who has nothing to give. Start the conversation by asking: what do you love to do?

WHAT YOU CAN EXCHANGE

The list is essentially limitless. Some examples from our Nevada County time bank and from last night’s conversation:

• Labor and skills: painting, carpentry, sewing, haircuts, tutoring, editing, tech help, translation, music lessons, photography

• Transportation: airport rides, doctor’s appointments, grocery runs, errand driving

• Home help: gutter cleaning, light repairs, landscaping, composting, pet sitting, dog walking

• Food: cooking meals, delivering groceries, garden harvests, homemade yogurt, baked goods, produce from a front-yard garden

• Companionship: going to a movie, taking a walk, having coffee, sitting with someone during a difficult time

• Mentorship and teaching: retired teachers, experienced gardeners, tradespeople, anyone with a life skill worth passing on

• Space and equipment: a meeting room, a commercial kitchen, chairs for events, a video projector, land for a community garden

• Goods: handmade items, garden starts, preserved foods, exchange the time it took to make them, and the receiver reimburses materials separately

Can you buy time bank hours with dollars? No. That defeats the purpose. Time banking is a time exchange. The moment you start buying hours, you’ve just recreated the dollar economy. Keep it pure.

THE LEVERAGE POINT: HOW THIS WORKS ALONGSIDE DOLLARS

Time banking won’t pay your mortgage. It won’t pay your car insurance or your health premiums. Let’s be honest about that. What it will do is free up the dollars you have. Every exchange you make through the time bank is a dollar you don’t have to spend. Point those saved dollars at the things that only accept dollars; the bills that require the system. And use the time bank for everything else: the home repairs, the meals, the rides, the garden work, the companionship. That is how you leverage. That is how you stretch what you have. And as the dollar weakens, your time bank hours only become more valuable.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

The real success story in time banking is not a perfectly balanced ledger. It is when two members have been exchanging back and forth for months, and one day they just stop logging the hours… because they’ve become friends. Because they’ve become good neighbors. Because they just help each other now, the way our great-grandparents did, the way the Amish do, without needing to track it. The notebook is the training wheels. The goal is to not need the notebook anymore. That is what we are rebuilding. That is what was taken from us. And we are taking it back.

We had a full hour of live questions. Here are some of the ones that came up:

“What if it gets too transactional and loses the human element?”

Common sense applies. If your friend is in the ER, you don’t charge them two hours. If someone you love is going through chemo, you sit with them because you love them. Time banking is a tool for building community, not a replacement for being human. The exchanges you start tracking are the ones you might not have made at all without the structure. Start with what you’re already doing for each other and formalize it. That is how you prime the pump.

“What if I need more help than I can give?”

There will never be exact parity and that is fine, it is not a competition. Members can also donate hours to those in need. What’s most important is asking the question: what do I love to do? Almost always, the answer reveals something that has real value in a community. A homebound elder who bakes pies and sells them for time bank hours every week earns ten hours (plus out of pocket expenses), and covers their own needs many times over. You are valuable. Even if you don’t believe that yet.

“Can I be part of more than one time bank?”

No need to. You can simply exchange with other neighborhood (or beyond) time banks; a church time bank, a family time bank…. just note it in your Time Bank Accounting Notebook.

“What if someone doesn’t follow through or disappoints me?”

Then they are not part of your inner circle. The time bank is self-governing, people who don’t follow through simply don’t get invited to exchange anymore. Word travels. Your reputation is your currency here, and it compounds over time in both directions.

“How do I find people if I don’t know anyone?”

Go out into your community and do something visible. Plant a garden in a blighted corner of your neighborhood. Start a community flower bed. Host a potluck and invite your block. The people of your vibration will find you, they are drawn to that energy. You can also use local social media, community bulletin boards, Nextdoor, church bulletins, or the localresistance.org network to spread the word. Hold a meeting at your home, at a local park, at your community hall. Get names, explain the concept, and begin.

START NOW. PLANT THE SEED TODAY.

Even if the dollar is still relatively stable right now, start talking to people today. Your coworkers. Your church members. Your family. Your neighbors. Some of them will shrug it off. And when things get tight, they will come knocking on your door and say “hey, remember that time bank thing you were talking about?” You will be ready. You are already ahead of the curve by being here.

You cannot force anyone to build community. But you can be ready for them when they have no other option. Think of yourself as the farmer. You are planting seeds right now. The harvest will come.

Wake up tomorrow morning and if things aren’t working the way they were today, get some paper, get your stapler, call five people, and say: let’s start a time bank right now. I’ll explain it. And you start rolling. It is that simple. It is that immediate. It is that powerful.

“The notebook is the training wheels. The goal is to not need it anymore. That is what we’re rebuilding. That is what was taken from us. And we are taking it back.”

When you opened your banking app this morning, checked your email, paid a bill, did you imagine that the server keeping your financial life intact was sitting in a warehouse in the United Arab Emirates, exposed to the open sky, its diesel generators humming away in the desert heat?

I didn’t know until last week.

And did you know that the same infrastructure routing your transactions was, until recently, running U.S. military AI targeting algorithms?

Did you know that Iran found the address?

Because they did. And they hit it.

SOUNDING THE HORN: THE CONDUCTOR’S BRIEF: (A fast, clear summary of the key takeaways to keep you informed on the go)

THE CLOUD ISN’T “UP THERE” ANYMORE AND IT’S ON FIRE IN DUBAI

On March 1st, 2026, Iranian drones and missiles struck three Amazon Web Services data centers, two in the UAE, one in Bahrain. The attacks forced the facilities offline and triggered cascading outages across the region: banking down, payments frozen, delivery apps dark, enterprise software offline. In an instant.

Iran didn’t mince words about why. They said the Bahrain facility had been deliberately targeted for its role in “supporting the enemy’s military and intelligence activities.”

They weren’t wrong.

The U.S. military uses AWS to run its workloads, including running Anthropic’s AI model Claude for intelligence assessments, target identification, and battle simulations during the Iran campaign. The same cloud that serves your local bank (mine too). The same cloud that powers your corporate software. The same cloud that was, as it turns out, helping select Iranian targets.

Here’s what stopped me cold: this is the first time in recorded history that data centers have been deliberately targeted for air strikes in an active conflict.

Experts say it almost certainly won’t be the last.

As one analyst put it: “If data centers become critical hubs for transiting military information, we can expect them to be increasingly targeted by both cyber and physical attacks.”

Welcome to the new battlefield. And it looks like we are in the middle of it.

There’s a famous 2010 clip of Kamala Harris explaining the cloud to us, her hand gesturing skyward, her voice full of authority: “It’s up here, in this cloud, that exists above us. It’s no longer in a physical place.”

Iran disagrees.

The cloud has a very physical place. It has a street address in the UAE and a facility in Bahrain. It has cooling units sitting exposed in the desert heat, diesel generators lined up in the open air, and, as of March 1st, 2026, it has fresh drone damage.

The cloud, it turns out, is not above us, it’s ahead of us, on the battlefield, and nobody thought to defend it.

And here’s what makes these targets so devastatingly easy: data centers containing highly sensitive military data are sprawling, highly visible complexes entirely dependent on exposed infrastructure. Cooling units sitting outside in the open air. Diesel generators lined up in rows. Gas turbines. All of it above ground, all of it vulnerable.

You don’t need a bunker-busting missile to take one down.

A drone.

A GPS coordinate.

Done.

But here's what nobody is telling you: your data is in there too. Your bank account. Your medical records. Your emails. Muddled right in alongside the military targeting algorithms, with no partition, no firewall, no separation of any kind, what-so-ever. When Iran hit those servers, it didn't discriminate.

Neither will the next strike.

In addition, seventeen submarine cables pass through the Red Sea, carrying the majority of data traffic between Europe, Asia, and Africa. Now add Iran’s threatened closure of the Strait of Hormuz and renewed Houthi activity in the Red Sea, and you have both of the world’s most critical data chokepoints sitting inside active conflict zones simultaneously. Closing both simultaneously is a globally disruptive event that has never happened before in history.

Let that land…. like a hypersonic missile.

The financial arteries, the communications backbone, the military intelligence network, all running through the same pipes.

All now in the crosshairs.

Where I come from, we call that a cl*sterf*ck.

A $2 MILLION MISSILE VS A $12 BALLOON

Let me be clear: I’m not a fan of the Iranian regime. However, I have to say, they deserve an A+ for creativity with their rubber army.

The Israeli Defense Forces released a video of what they claimed was a precision strike on a Mi-17 helicopter inside Iran. The clip, captured in grainy infrared, went immediately viral, but not for the reason Israel intended. Observers online pointed out that the target looked suspiciously… soft. Suspiciously deflated.

As it turns out, they may have been right.

Reports are coming in that Iran has been deploying large inflatable decoys throughout the country: life-sized tanks, missile launchers, fighter jets, helicopters. From the air, through thermal imaging, they read as the real thing.

Some reports place the number of decoys at 900,000, imported from China. Iran has also been painting life-sized silhouettes of military aircraft directly on the ground, outlines drawn with inexpensive paint, designed to confuse aerial surveillance and drone targeting systems.

Damn. THAT is clever…. and serves the purpose of milking the US military and American taxpayers dry, simultaneously.

The cost of one painted helicopter: a few dollars. The cost of a precision missile expended on it: millions.

While the U.S. has been raining multi-million-dollar munitions down on what may be a rubber army, Iran has been calmly doing the math. And the math is not in our favor.

We are, in the most literal sense, spending a fortune to pop balloons.

THE SIRENS SOUND AFTERE THE EXPLOSION

Meanwhile, there’s this.

“Four minutes and twenty seconds. That’s how long Iran’s Fattah-2 hypersonic missile takes to travel from Tehran to central Israel.”

Israel’s missile alert system requires six minutes to complete its full warning cycle: detect the launch, calculate the trajectory, determine the impact zone, transmit alerts, sound sirens, population reaches shelter.

The missile arrives one minute and forty seconds before the warning finishes.

Sirens sound after the impact.

Not before.

Let that settle in. The system that kept Israelis safe for fifteen years stopped working. Arrow-3 is designed for targets above 100km altitude, the Fattah-2 glides below 50km. David’s Sling is optimized for Mach 5-8, the Fattah-2 travels at Mach 15. Iron Dome handles short-range rockets only. No deployed Israeli system can intercept this weapon. And Iran knows this.

Israel’s Foreign Minister has since declared, “We will continue our missile attacks for as long as it takes.” Iran’s IRGC Aerospace commander announced they will no longer bother launching missiles with warheads lighter than one ton at U.S. and Israeli targets.

They are no longer holding back.

THE ULTIMATE ULTIMATUM

And now Iran has handed the Gulf states an ultimatum that has no good answer.

Iran's IRGC commander Ali Larijani essentially delivered the message on state television: "Countries in the region must either prevent the US from using their territory against Iran themselves, or we will."

In other words: Choose America, or choose your oil. Choose the U.S. military presence in your territory, and become a target. Or deny the U.S. use of your airbases and airspace, and fall into Iran’s orbit.

There is no safe door. Both options lead somewhere terrible.

If the Gulf states side with Washington: they absorb Iranian strikes on their own soil. We have already watched explosions light up Qatar, the UAE, and Kuwait. Deloitte, PwC, and Citi are closing and evacuating their Dubai offices. The port of Jebel Ali is on fire.

Jebel Ali is the world’s ninth busiest port, the largest man-made harbour, and the biggest and busiest port in the Middle East. It handles approximately 14.5 to 19 million shipping containers annually, with direct connections to over 140 ports worldwide UNIS, linking Asia, Europe, and Africa.

It is the port most frequently visited by U.S. Navy ships outside the United States.

The world's largest shipping companies just halted Persian Gulf routes after the Jebel Ali fire. Jebel Ali handles a significant chunk of global container shipping. One fire, and the world's supply chains started rerouting.

But I digress…. back to the Iranian ultimatum.

If the Gulf states side with Tehran: the U.S. also loses all of its regional military infrastructure, and Iran gains leverage over the oil flows that power the global economy.

The Strait of Hormuz is already moving toward closure. U.S. intelligence has confirmed Iran is deploying mines in the shipping lane. The U.S. military has already destroyed sixteen Iranian minelayers in the Strait. Oil is pushing toward $150 a barrel.

This is not theater.

This is the economic warfare front opening up.

Iran doesn't need to win a kinetic war. They just need to make sure we can't afford to keep fighting one.

And it was predictable. In fact, it was predicted, by everyone who wasn’t invested in believing it couldn’t happen.

WHO’S RUNNING THIS WAR, ANYWAY?

Now let’s ask the uncomfortable question.

The Trump administration has now asked Israel not to strike Iranian energy infrastructure, specifically oil facilities. This marks the first time the Trump administration has reined in Israel during this conflict.

Why now?

Because the math on $150 oil is not survivable politically.

And Trump’s own adviser put it plainly: “The president doesn’t like the attack. He wants to save the oil. He doesn’t want to burn it. And it reminds people of higher gas prices.”

Trump’s advisors are reportedly begging him to find an exit before “Epic Fury” becomes “Epic Catastrophe.” Even Steve Witkoff, Trump’s own special envoy, has admitted publicly he doesn’t know how this war gets won.

Meanwhile, Bibi Netanyahu is talking openly about “tens of billions of shekels” in emergency war budget allocations. Is he running out of money? Let’s hope so, because the alternative is a man with nothing left to lose and a nuclear arsenal.

I’m ol’ Bibi is feeling the pressure. Just look what is raining down on Tel Aviv. This is just one hypersonic missile:

And here’s where it gets darker still.

The Epstein files, yes, those Epstein files, have surfaced communications suggesting what many have long argued: that ISIS and Al-Qaeda have functioned as American and Israeli intelligence assets. An email thread from September 2016 includes text referencing the U.S. giving “a pass on ISIS to Palmyra” and describes American policy as driven not by one voice but by fragmented, competing agendas across the White House, Pentagon, State Department, and CIA.

If this is true, and the primary documents are sitting right there, then the American taxpayer has been funding both sides of this conflict for decades. And the “war on terror” was never about terror.

It was about control.

Are any of us terribly surprised?

Iran says it knows this. And Iran says it’s no longer negotiating.

Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi has declared that talks with the United States are off the table, pointing out, with some justification, that the U.S. was bombing Iran while simultaneously sitting at the negotiating table. There is no more table.

All Iran needs to do is wear us down.

A FOG SO THICK YOU CAN’T SEE YOUR HAND

Here’s the thing about information warfare: you don’t need to win every battle. You just need to make your enemy unable to know whether they’re winning or losing.

We are operating in near-total information blackout right now. The UK Parliament’s own research briefing acknowledged this week that “due to ongoing conflict and restricted internet and media access within Iran, civilian and military casualties and reports on specific events are difficult to verify.”

Reports are swirling that Netanyahu’s residence was struck. That the head of Mossad, David Barnea, was killed in a precision Iranian strike on Mossad headquarters.

Israel is imposing heavy censorship on its own war damage. We are watching events of historic consequence through a freakingf pinhole.

Meanwhile, Iran says the U.S. is posting fake news to manipulate markets. The Iranian Foreign Minister warned this week that Americans are about to face “the biggest inflationary tsunami in history,” and that no amount of market manipulation will protect them from what’s coming.

Iran also continues to insist that recent false flag operations, attacks attributed to Iran in Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Cyprus, were Israeli operations designed to drag more nations into the conflict. This is Mossad’s signature: light the fire, point the finger, widen the war.

I would suggest we don’t fall for it. Not this time.

THE TWO SCENARIOS NOBODY WANTS TO SAY OUT LOUD

Let me close with the two scenarios that serious analysts are now putting on the table.

Scenario One is the nightmare: The goal all along has been maximum destruction, of the global economy, of Iran, of the Gulf states, of American influence in the Middle East, clearing the way for the Greater Israel Project and, eventually, what some have described in prophetic terms as the War of Gog and Magog. Iran shattered. America expelled from the region. Israel standing alone as the dominant power in the Middle East.

I think this is what Israel’s most extreme leadership wants. I do not think they will achieve it.

Scenario Two is more interesting, and potentially more consequential for the long arc of history. When Trump issued his “We will remember” warning to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, it wasn’t really about Starmer. It was a warning shot at the City of London, the financial nerve center of the old British imperial system that has long controlled shipping insurance, maritime finance, and the global oil trade. When Lloyd’s of London pulled war-risk insurance for ships in the Persian Gulf, it wasn’t just a business decision. It was leverage. No insurance, tankers don’t sail, oil prices spike. The City of London has been pulling this lever for generations.

Trump responded immediately by launching a $20 billion U.S. maritime reinsurance and naval escort program, essentially replacing London’s grip on global energy insurance and keeping tankers moving under American protection.

In other words: Washington just stepped directly into a system historically dominated by the old imperial financial order.

If that holds, this conflict is not just about Iran and Israel. It’s about who controls the financial chokepoints of the global economy. And it’s a battle that has been coming for a very long time.

Yep.

Unlike the picture Kamala Harris provided, the cloud does have an address. The balloon costs twelve dollars. The missile arrives before the siren. The negotiating table has been cleared.

Now, Trump is throwing his “bros” under the perverbial bus. You know things are getting bad when this goes down:

What happens next is going to cost us one way or another. I don’t mean to be a pessimist. That’s not my style. But I don’t see anyway out us feeling some pain.

The only question is whether the American people are awake enough, finally, to demand that we stop paying for both sides of a war that has never been fought in our name.

• Major medical bodies, including the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and American Medical Association, now agree: kill the seasonal clock changes and stay on permanent standard time because that’s what human biology is wired for.

LIKE CLOCKWORK…

I’m grumpy.

No, not because we have been thrown into the belly of WWIII when it was all avoidable. No, not because every rapist and predatory pedo-criminal continues to run free throughout the world.

But because I just lost a precious hour of my morning “sacred time,” and I want it to stop. Like many Americans subjected to this hourly whiplash, I have been sick of it for years.

We’ve been told a lot of things about why we do this twice a year. That it’s for the farmers. That Ben Franklin thought it up. That it saves energy. Every one of those stories is either wrong, a myth, or a half-truth designed to keep you from asking the more important question: who actually benefits from this, and why are we still doing it?

Let’s start at the beginning, and I mean the real beginning.

A BUG COLLECTOR, A GOLFER, AND A WAR

The honest history of Daylight Saving Time is not the one you learned in school. Benjamin Franklin didn’t invent it. He wrote a satirical essay in 1784 suggesting Parisians could save candle money by waking up earlier , a joke, not a policy proposal. The Franklin Institute itself disputes the credit.

DST actually originated with a New Zealand entomologist named George Hudson, who in 1895 proposed shifting the clocks to give himself more after-work daylight to collect insects. A bug hobby. Millions of people disrupting their sleep schedules twice a year, because a man in 1895 wanted more time to chase beetles.

It didn’t take hold as policy until war intervened. Germany became the first country to officially observe Daylight Saving Time in 1916, during World War I, as a way to conserve fuel. The U.S. followed in 1918, about a year after entering the war. Then Congress repealed it almost immediately.

You know who killed it? The farm lobby. Farmers never wanted it. They opposed it then, and they’ve opposed it in every iteration since. The whole “it’s for the farmers” story is the exact inversion of reality.

It came back during World War II, imposed year-round as an energy conservation measure, and was then repealed again in 1945. For the next two decades, states and localities did whatever they wanted, creating a patchwork of local time chaos. At one point, a 35-mile bus ride between Steubenville, Ohio and Moundsville, West Virginia crossed seven different time zones.

In 1966, Congress finally standardized it all with the Uniform Time Act (ironically, the year I was born… though I won't take it personally). And that’s where things get interesting, because from that point on, the story of Daylight Saving Time stops being about war or energy or even farmers. It becomes a story about…. lobbying.

THE REAL ARCHITECTS: GOLF BALLS, CANDY PUMPKINS, AND BARBECUE CHARCOAL

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce was among the major backers of DST from the beginning, not for energy reasons, but because Americans getting off work while it was still light out were more likely to go shopping. Golf ball sales skyrocketed during DST periods. Baseball was an early supporter too, since there was no artificial park lighting and extended daylight meant more fans at games.

It only got more brazen from there.

In the 1980s, a formal lobbying coalition was formed, the National Daylight Saving Time Coalition, comprised of corporations from golf, candy, fast food, convenience stores, barbecue equipment, and amusement parks.

They weren’t shy about it.

During congressional hearings, the golf industry alone told Congress that one additional month of DST was worth $200 million in golf club and greens fee sales. The barbecue industry claimed $100 million in additional grill and charcoal sales.

And the candy industry?

They wanted Halloween. Candy lobbyists were convinced that an extra hour of evening light on October 31st would keep kids out longer and drive adults to buy more candy in anticipation. They literally placed candy pumpkins on the seat of every senator during the 1985 hearings. They didn’t win that round. But they kept coming back.

In 2005, President George W. Bush signed a bill extending DST to eight months. Halloween, at last, was covered.

We are now living in an unnatural eight-month DST regime, not because of energy science, not because of farmers, not because of any public health rationale, but because candy companies wanted your children out trick-or-treating longer. This is not a metaphor. This is documented congressional lobbying history.

WHAT IT ACTUALLY DOES TO YOUR BODY

While industries were counting their windfall, researchers, such as those at the University of Colorado Boulder, were quietly documenting what the twice-yearly clock shuffle does to human beings.

The short answer: nothing good.

Every cell in our bodies keeps track of the time. Changes in daily patterns trigger stress in our brains and cause sleep deprivation, disorientation, and memory loss. Disruption to our circadian rhythms has been linked to increased rates of depression, obesity, heart attack, cancer, and car accidents.

The numbers are not subtle. Research shows that heart attack risk increases by about 24% on the Monday following the spring shift to DST. A 2020 study found a 6% increase in fatal traffic accidents in the week following the spring time change. Workplace injuries spike as well, particularly in jobs requiring physical labor.

Stroke rates are 8% higher in the first two days following both time changes.

“Prior to 2007, we saw the risk increase in April, and when daylight saving time moved to March, so did the risk increase,” said Vetter. “That gave us even more confidence that the risk increase we observe is indeed attributable to the daylight saving time switch, and not something else.”

Your kids aren’t spared either. A 2015 study published in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine found that in the school days following the time change, students were sleepier, had slower reaction times, and were less attentive.

Overall impacts:

• Analyzed 732,835 fatal crashes from 1996–2017

• 6% spike in fatal accidents in the workweek after the spring time change

• About 28 additional deaths every single year

• Over 22 years: 627 preventable deaths

• Risk is highest in the morning hours and worst for people in the western parts of time zones which means Californians are among the most affected

Chronic sleep deprivation costs an estimated $411 billion annually in lost productivity and health care costs. That’s the price tag on the arrangement, and it lands on individuals, families, and the healthcare system, while the golf industry and candy lobby pocket the gains.

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the American Medical Association, and the American Heart Association have all called for ending the time change. The consensus among sleep scientists is unambiguous: we should eliminate DST and stay on standard time permanently.

WHICH TIME TO KEEP

Not all permanent time is created equal, and this is where the debate gets muddied, sometimes deliberately.

Some lawmakers pushing to “end the clock change” want to lock us into permanent Daylight Saving Time. It sounds appealing on the surface, longer evenings, more light after work, but it’s worth asking: more light for whom, and at what cost?

Permanent DST means darker mornings, year-round. It means children going to school in the dark. It means your body perpetually out of sync with the sun, because DST, by definition, is artificial time. It is clock time divorced from solar reality.

Permanent standard time, on the other hand, keeps us aligned with what our bodies have been calibrated to over thousands of years: waking with the light, sleeping with the dark. It’s not a preference. It’s biology.

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the American Medical Association, the American Heart Association, and the National Sleep Foundation have all come to the same conclusion: if we’re going to pick one time and stay there, it must be standard time. Not because it’s convenient for retail hours or evening golf, but because it’s what the human body actually needs.

There’s something telling about the fact that the loudest voices pushing for permanent DST tend to be the same industries that have been manipulating the clock for decades. They don’t want you aligned with the sun. They want you available, awake, and spending, as late into the evening as possible.

Standard time isn’t just the healthier choice. It’s the more honest one.

CALIFORNIA VOTED. NOTHING HAPPENED.

Here in California, we tried to do something about it.

In November 2018, California voters passed Proposition 7 by nearly 60%, a clear mandate to end the biannual clock shuffle. But Prop 7 wasn’t the finish line. It was just the starting gun, one that apparently fires into a bureaucratic void.

The proposition gave the state legislature the power to end the time changes with a two-thirds vote, provided the change was consistent with federal law. That two-thirds threshold has proven insurmountable, not because Californians changed their minds, but because the legislature can’t agree on which permanent time to adopt. Assembly Bill 7 passed the Assembly but stalled in a Senate committee. A follow-up bill in the 2021–2022 session didn’t even clear the Assembly. More recent bills in 2023–2024 also failed to advance out of committee.

Seven million California voters said: enough. And yet here we are, in 2026, still changing our clocks, still losing sleep, still watching accident rates spike, still feeding a system that was designed not for our health but for somebody else’s quarterly earnings.

This is how it works. Voters express their will. The machinery absorbs it. The industries keep collecting.

STOP SETTING OUR CLOCK

Daylight Saving Time was born in wartime. It was kept alive by industry. It was expanded by lobbyists who literally left candy on senators’ chairs. And it has been resisted, repeatedly, across decades, by the farmers it was supposedly designed to help, by sleep researchers, by cardiologists, by parents of exhausted children, and by 60% of California voters who said, with a clear majority, that they were done with it.

The sun doesn’t care what your clock says. Your body certainly doesn’t. The only ones who need the clock moved are the ones selling you something after 5 p.m.

Maybe it’s time we stopped letting them set it.

FROM BAD TO WORSE

Whenever people ask me, why would humans do this to other humans? I pause for a beat and then I say: I’m not sure they are human.

That answer almost always gets a nervous giggle.

That’s exactly where I am right now: watching the Middle East get pummeled into rubble in what is being sold to us as a rescue operation. People are being sacrificed in order to “save them.” It’s so Orwellian it practically writes itself, a Shakespearean soliloquy delivered on cue, with full theatrical lighting. Iranians: cannon fodder. Israelis: cannon fodder. And every other geographically compromised soul caught in the Babylonian crosshairs of what I’m quite certain will one day be formally known in the history books as WWIII, probably already storyboarded in a Simpsons episode that will tell us exactly how it ends, who gets assassinated, and on which blood moon. Because at this point, why not?

I look up sometimes. Literally look up. Half expecting one of those warm-gelled LED theater canisters to drop out of the sky and confirm what I already suspect: that this is all a production. A very elaborate, very well-funded Truman Show. And we’re the audience and the cast.

Like Covid, many of us are watching another train wreck in slow motion. Horror and helplessness running neck and neck. The kind of thing you can’t unsee once you’ve let yourself actually see it.

WHAT WE KNOW RIGHT NOW

The Strait of Hormuz is effectively being shut down, essentially running a seismic faultline directly under the global economy, including ours. The shockwaves from that alone are going to be felt in ways most Americans are not remotely prepared for.

And we have Middle Easterners, pushed to the edge, targeted repeatedly, watching us go after their spiritual leaders, who have now committed themselves to jihad against Americans. Including on American soil. I don’t say that to stoke fear. I say it because I have spent decades trusting my instincts, and right now every single one of them is firing.

I traveled the world mostly alone for years. You learn fast, in those circumstances, how to read the room. I don’t bat a thousand anymore, no one does, but when it comes to the big picture, I’ve learned to trust what I see. And what I see right now is a dangerous chasm.

But here’s the thing about chasms: they are also, simultaneously, the largest opportunities of our lives. This is where we come in.

TWO POSSIBLE ENDINGS FROM WHERE WE STAND

There is a dark one, and there is a good one, and the distance between them is almost entirely determined by what we do next. Not them. Us.

The only way to ensure the outcome we actually want is to stay flexible. To be able to absorb unexpected impacts without shattering. The only way to survive impacts is to be able to adjust, not in weeks, not in days, but on a dime.

And that requires building the infrastructure now, before the lights go out. Not metaphorically. Literally.

LET’S TALK TIME BANKING

No. I’m not talking bartering. Bear with me.

I’ve been down this road before, I launched a time bank in Nevada County back in 2014, and I am not speaking to you theoretically. I lived it. I ran it. And when I really got into the bones of how it works, it created a paradigm shift inside my own brain that I did not see coming.

Here’s the short version: time banking is not bartering. Bartering is transactional and awkward, you need a mechanic, and the mechanic just happens to need his pants sewn up. That’s a tough match. Time banking is something else entirely. It’s a community of people who agree to exchange time, hours, minutes, as currency. I paint your door for an hour, I earn an hour in my time bank. I spend that hour getting guitar lessons. Someone else walks my dog for ninety minutes, earns ninety minutes, spends it getting their gutters cleaned.

The accounting is what turns it into currency. And once you have currency, you have leverage. There are a myriad ways of utilizing time banking to build a stronger community.

TIME BANK BEGINNINGS

This system was born in 1940s Japan, out of the exhaustion of a woman named Teruko Mitsushima, who literally fainted from overwork and decided there had to be another way. In the 1950s it evolved as a way for young people leaving their villages to ensure their elders were cared for back home, all tracked on the honor system, in little notebooks. Dr. Edgar Cahn brought it to the U.S. in the 1980s when he saw the fabric of community fraying: government services drying up, the dollar weakening, neighbors no longer knowing neighbors. He called it Time Banks USA. Later, an online version called hOurworld made it scalable and even international, yes, you can use your time bank hours in Paris.

But here’s the version I want to teach you: the one that doesn’t require the internet. The one that doesn’t require the power grid. The one you can run with a notebook, a pen, and your neighborhood block.

Because I would not be betting on the stability of our energy grid right now. Or the internet. Or online banking.

LEVERAGING WHAT YOU HAVE

Time banking won’t pay your mortgage. Let’s be honest about that. It won’t pay your rent or your car insurance or your health premiums. What it will do is leverage the dollars you have. It frees you from needing cash for the things neighbors can do for each other, so you can point whatever money remains at the bills that actually require it.

More than that, it rebuilds something we’ve been systematically stripped of: the knowledge that we can rely on each other. That community is real. That exchange doesn’t have to run through a bank.

We have been taught, conditioned, really, to believe that nothing of value changes hands without a dollar involved. Coins. Zeros and ones on a screen. A credit card swipe. Time banking blows that false construct wide open. It says: the accounting is what matters, not the instrument. And we can create the instrument ourselves.

DON’T SURVIVE. THRIVE.

I mean, sure, survival is step one. But I want us to thrive. I want us to come out of whatever this is with stronger communities, more trust, more resilience, and a model that doesn’t require any of the systems that are currently teetering.

The powers that be, human or, ummmm, otherwise, are counting on our fragmentation. Our isolation. Our dependence on infrastructure they control. Time banking is a direct answer to all three.

It doesn’t matter if you’re rural or urban, wealthy or broke, well-connected or starting from scratch. This works for all of it. That’s the point.

WAGGIN’ IT

There is a file named “wag the dog” circulating right now, below. Not a metaphor. An actual video file that has surfaced in the middle of a world war. That has been assessed by multiple AI analysis tools as not AI-generated. Real footage. Traditional compositing. And according to those who have seen it, both Donald Trump and Elon Musk appear in it, connected to Jeffrey Epstein’s operation. The confidence rating on its authenticity sits at 0.73, not ironclad, but significant.

Significant enough that if you were a powerful man with something to hide, you might want the world looking somewhere else.

Somewhere loud.

Somewhere on fire.

Enter from the wings, World War III.

I want you to hold two things in your mind at once, because the powerful count on us being unable to do so. The Epstein files are being released and combed through in real time. And simultaneously, the world has lurched into what may be the most consequential geopolitical rupture since 1973.

These two facts are not unrelated.

They may, in fact, be the oldest story in the book, the one Hollywood already told us in 1997, in a film called Wag the Dog (starring the now dead Anne Heche), about a staged war manufactured to bury a presidential sex scandal. Someone named that video file deliberately.

Someone is trying to tell us something.

THIS WAS ALWAYS THE PLAN

But here is what I need you to understand before we go any further: this war did not begin last week. It was scheduled.

In 2007, General Wesley Clark, former Supreme Allied Commander of NATO, sat down for an interview and described a classified memo he had been shown shortly after September 11th. The memo, from the Office of the Secretary of Defense, outlined a plan to take down seven countries in five years: Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Iran.

Since then, we have watched that list get checked off like my laundry list of things to do, country by country, year by year, administration by administration, like my slow and bloody checklist.

Iran was always last and it was always the destination.

So when people ask how we got here, the honest answer is: we have always been going here. The Epstein files may have accelerated the timeline. The political pressure building around Trump and those implicated in Epstein’s network may have made the urgency more acute. But do not mistake the accelerant for the architect. The architecture was built long before any of us were paying attention.

I wrote about this, time and time again. I want to be precise about that. Not to say “I told you so,” but because the pattern I identified then is the same pattern playing out now, and it matters that we name it clearly.

Last year, when Iran sent a fleet of outdated drones toward Israel in what the mainstream media framed as an act of aggression, I wrote that it was nothing of the sort. It was a message. A mature, calculated shot across the bow from a nation that wanted Israel to understand, without any ambiguity, exactly what they were capable of and exactly what restraint looked like. Iran was showing Israel its hand. Not to threaten, but to warn. To say: we can do this. We are choosing not to. Be wise.

Israel was not wise.

Netanyahu chose escalation at every turn.

And look what this has gotten them. This is mind-blowing:

And now, as Iranian missiles saturate the skies over Tel Aviv and Ramat Gan, as desalination plants fall (try living without water) and the Iron Dome proves it was never the impenetrable shield we were sold, Netanyahu himself is reportedly in the German Alps, which, given his particular history of hiding behind others while others bleed, feels almost poetically appropriate.

Bibe’s wife and son, I am told, are in Florida. Comfortable. Connected. Checking their iPhones to watch the war of their making unfold from a safe distance. They never do stand in the rubble they make.

THE ASSASSINATION THAT WAS NEVER A MISTAKE

Here is the moment I need you to sit with. Because this is where the story breaks open.

Iran’s Supreme Leader is dead. Right out the proverbial gate. Killed in a strike that our government and Israel’s government absolutely knew would be a trigger point of historic magnitude. You do not take out a Supreme Leader, the singular spiritual and political authority of a 90-million-person nation with one of the most sophisticated missile arsenals on earth, by freaking accident. You do not do it without wargaming exactly what happens next. And what happens next was not a mystery to anyone with a security clearance and a map.

The Strait of Hormuz closes. Twenty percent of the world’s oil supply goes offline overnight. Iran declares Jihad against America. Sleeper cells, placed and waiting across years of deliberately open borders, receive the signal to activate. The infrastructure for this was built patiently, quietly, and in plain sight. And then someone handed Iran the justification to use it.

This was not a miscalculation. Miscalculations are accidents. This was a decision. Someone wanted the Strait closed. Someone wanted Jihad declared. Someone wanted American cities under threat while a certain set of documents sits on a table demanding to be read.

Last Monday, March 2nd, Secretary of State Marco Rubio told us more than he meant to. He stated publicly, on record, that the United States had to strike Iran first because it knew Israel would act unilaterally. Then he denied ever saying it. But the record exists. It does not disappear because a man in a suit decides it should.

What Rubio’s walk-back actually revealed is the seam in the story, the place where the official narrative doesn’t quite close up into a nice, neat container. The US was not dragged unwillingly into this. It knew. It planned. And then it pretended otherwise.

THE IRON DOME. THE WORLD’S GREATEST SALES PITCH

The Israeli’s believed in it.

Us Americans? We did too.

I know I did. Until last year.

For years, the Iron Dome has been sold to the American public as a near-miraculous defense system; the invisible shield that makes Israel untouchable. What Iran has clearly been demonstrating of the last five days, methodically and without illusion, is that every shield has a math problem.

Iran did not try to outmaneuver the Iron Dome. They simply overwhelmed it. Volume. Saturation. The logic of attrition applied with ruthless precision. And when the shield was sufficiently occupied, one missile, a single Iranian ballistic missile, found the AN/FPS-132 radar installation at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. The nervous system of the entire US missile defense architecture in the Gulf. Every Patriot battery. Every THAAD launcher. All of them now operating partially blind.

Qatar claims to have intercepted 101 missiles. Two got through. One hit the only target that mattered. That is asymmetric warfare in its purest and most devastating form. Iran does not need to win. Iran only needs to keep firing. They have approximately 3,000 ballistic missiles. They have used roughly 200 in five days. Each Iranian missile costs around $300,000. Each American interceptor costs around $4 million. Iran can outspend the United States ten to one in this war of attrition, and they know it. They have known it for years.

They planned for it.

The US Navy has now announced it cannot provide escorts through the Strait of Hormuz. The petrodollar, the entire architecture of American global financial dominance, runs through a chokepoint we can no longer credibly defend, guarded by interceptor systems now operating without their primary radar, restocked by a Raytheon production line that manufactures 37 THAAD interceptors per year.

Read that again. Thirty-seven. Per year.

When you do the math. You realize we are in for a load of crap coming our way.

THE WORLD IN FIVE DAYS

Let me tell you what five days of this war has already cost the planet, because the numbers are staggering enough that our minds want to soften them, and we cannot afford to let them.

South Korea’s stock market crashed eight percent and triggered a circuit breaker, trading halted because the drop was too fast for the system to absorb. Japan fell six percent. Germany five. Spain four and a half. Italy four. The Dow dropped 1,200 points in a single session, its worst day since April of 2025. $3.2 trillion in global market value has evaporated in four days. The Strait of Hormuz is closed. Saudi Arabia’s largest oil refinery has been bombed. Qatar’s entire LNG production is offline. Iraq’s second-largest oil field has been shut down. Oil is surging past $85 a barrel and heading toward $100. UK gas prices rose 74 percent in two days. 787 people are confirmed dead in Iran. Six American soldiers have been killed (I’m guessing many more than that). Israel has invaded Lebanon. Tehran and Beirut are being bombed simultaneously.

And, so, how’s your day going?

What a mess.

And now Trump went from this war will last 4 days to five weeks.

Five weeks.
Every product you buy is downstream of oil. Your groceries, your heating, your gas, your medication, all of it is about to become more expensive in ways that will not reverse quickly, if they reverse at all. The 1973 oil crisis crashed markets for two years. The 2008 financial crisis wiped out $10 trillion. What we are watching has the potential to be both, compounded.

And we are on day five.

And this is the US military base in Erbil, Iraq, up in massive flames:

OPEN BORDERS, SLEEPING CELLS, AND THE BILL COMING DUE

I have to say this plainly, because the pieces fit too precisely to ignore. For years, years, the southern border of the United States was left functionally open. We were told this was policy failure, political dysfunction, bureaucratic incompetence. Maybe some of that is true. But now Iran has declared Jihad against America. Intelligence officials are warning in the same breath about sleeper cells. And the border that was left open is the one those cells walked through.

I am not interested in partisan border politics. I am interested in consequences. Decisions have consequences. And when you assassinate a Supreme Leader, shutter a strait, and light the Middle East on fire, the people you allowed to enter and wait, without vetting, without accounting, become a variable in the equation that someone, somewhere, already ran.

The American people are being asked to absorb all of this at once: a potential domestic threat on their own soil, a war their government was complicit in starting, a financial shock that will reshape their daily lives for years, and a set of files, those Epstein files, sitting right there, just out of the frame, that connect the men managing this crisis to one of the most documented predatory networks in modern history.

This is the oldest play. Make the world loud enough, and people stop reading.

Some good news? The CIA station at the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia was blown to smithereens by an Iranian drone.

I’ll take what I can get.

WHAT THE FILES ON THE TABLE MEAN

I said at the beginning that someone named that video file “wag the dog” deliberately. I believe that. I believe someone with knowledge of what is in that footage, and what is in those Epstein files, and what is in that memo General Wesley Clark described in 2007, is trying to give us the thread. Not all at once. Just enough to pull.

So pull it.

The war in the Middle East is real. The missiles are real. The dead are real. The economic carnage is real. None of that is theater. But theater and reality are not mutually exclusive. The timing of a world war breaking open in the same week that Epstein’s files begin circulating, files that reportedly implicate the sitting president and the world’s richest man, is not a coincidence I am willing to dismiss.

Iran was always on the list. The Supreme Leader’s assassination was not a mistake. The open borders were not an oversight. The Iron Dome was never invincible. The Epstein files did not release themselves into a vacuum.

And Netanyahu, sitting somewhere in the Alps, or wherever men go when the wars they light are too hot to watch up close, is not the only one who knew exactly what would happen when that first missile flew.

We are five days in. The worst has not started yet. Read everything. Trust the pattern.

THE WOUND: NAMING WHAT IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING TO US

There is a particular kind of pain that has no clean name in our culture.

It isn’t grief exactly, though grief is part of it.

It isn’t rage, though rage lives inside it.

It isn’t depression, though depression is often where it lands.

The clinical world calls it betrayal trauma, and the research is unambiguous about what it does to human beings. Betrayal trauma is not merely an acute reaction. It is a lasting psychological wound that erodes core beliefs about justice and goodness, fostering chronic anger, cynicism, and alienation that don’t simply resolve on their own. It is the specific injury that occurs when the people and institutions you were told to trust, trained from birth to depend upon, turn out to have been working against you all along.

Betrayal trauma occurs when the people or institutions on which a person depends for survival significantly violate that person’s trust or well-being: Childhood physical, emotional, or sexual abuse perpetrated by a caregiver are examples of betrayal trauma.

Betrayal Trauma Theory holds that events that combine genuine threat with profound social betrayal are inherently more traumatic than those involving only one of those elements.

What that means in plain language is this: it’s not just “what” happened. It’s “who” did it to you.

When a stranger hurts you, it is terrible. When the doctor, the president, the spiritual teacher, the institution, the movement you believed in, when “they” are the ones holding the knife, the wound goes somewhere far deeper than the ordinary trauma response can reach. It goes to the place where your sense of reality lives. It creates a conflict between external reality and the internal architecture on which you built your life.

And that is precisely where millions of Americans find themselves right now.

Think about what we have been asked to absorb in just the last few months. A beloved wellness guru (Deepak Chopra), a man who has made hundreds of millions of dollars teaching the world about love and higher consciousness, writing to a convicted pedophile: “God is a construct. Cute girls are real.” A “no war” president who campaigned on ending endless conflicts, then bombed seven countries in his first year, while seven in ten of his own voters said they did not want it. A network of elite men who abused children for decades while the FBI sat on tips for nearly a decade before acting. A man asking inconvenient questions about all of it, “shot on a rooftop,“ in broad daylight, and then the woman asking questions about “his” death becomes the next target (Candace Owens).

Then there is COVID…… and the utter betrayal of all things medical-related.

Each of these revelations delivers the same blow to the same place inside us.

The place that still wanted to believe.

Research confirms that institutional betrayal, the kind perpetrated by systems and leaders, not just individuals, evokes a uniquely intense psychological response. University of Oregon psychologist Dr. Jennifer Freyd, whose landmark 2014 study in American Psychologist first formally documented this harm, found that when trusted institutions are the perpetrators, the damage extends far beyond the original wound, producing disrupted memory, deteriorating physical health, delayed help-seeking, and a sweeping disengagement from institutions as a whole.

The betrayal, in other words, doesn't just hurt. It dismantles the architecture of trust itself.

Left unaddressed, this wound produces burnout, chronic stress, emotional exhaustion, and a disillusionment that bleeds into every corner of a person’s life. We see it everywhere right now. People who were once engaged, passionate, and civically alive are going quiet. Pulling back. Numbing out. Or swinging to the opposite extreme, consuming an endless feed of revelations, each one confirming the worst, each one leaving them more hollow than before.

I see this all around me.

Both of these responses, the withdrawal and the obsessive consumption, are the psyche’s attempt to manage an unmanageable injury. Neither of them heals it.

Before we can talk about solutions, we have to be honest about what we are actually dealing with. This is not political disappointment. This is not ideological disillusionment. This is a “moral injury,” the specific wound that occurs when the world violates what you knew, in your bones, to be right. And it is a wound that will not heal if we only address the fear. The anger, the disillusionment, the loss of trust, these require their own specific attention.

So let’s give them that attention.

THE PATTERN: HOW TO SEE THE MACHINE WITHOUT BEING CONSUMED BY IT

There is a critical distinction between “awakening” and “despair,” and the line between them is pattern recognition.

Despair says: “Everything is corrupt, nothing matters, there is no one to trust.”

Awakening says: I can now see how this works, which means I can no longer be manipulated by it.

These feel similar in the early stages of unraveling.

They are not the same thing.

One leaves you paralyzed.

The other gives you your power back.

The machine operates on a set of remarkably consistent patterns. Once you see them, you cannot unsee them, and more importantly, you stop being shocked each time they repeat.

Here is how to identify them:

When someone is being attacked simultaneously across multiple platforms, with identical framing, follow the money and the timing. Organic criticism is messy, inconsistent, and arrives from different angles over time. Coordinated narrative management is clean, simultaneous, and uses the same language across unconnected accounts within the same news cycle.

What we are watching happen to Candace Owens right now, for daring to ask questions about the death of a man who was himself asking inconvenient questions, is a masterclass in the modern version of COINTELPRO. Not agents in trench coats. Verified accounts with large followings, financial access, and platform relationships worth protecting.

Ask always: “What did this person say or do in the days just before the pile-on began? What line did they cross? Who benefits from their discrediting?

DARVO: THE SCRIPT THEY KEEP RUNNING

There is a clinical name for what you are watching happen to Candace Owens right now. For what happened to every whistleblower, every truth-teller, every inconvenient voice that got too close to something powerful people needed to protect.

University of Oregon psychologist Dr. Jennifer Freyd, whose foundational research gave us the very language of institutional betrayal, identified a pattern so consistent, so predictable, and so deliberately deployed across institutions, governments, and power structures that she gave it an acronym: DARVO. Deny. Attack. Reverse Victim and Offender.

Here is how it works, and once you see it, you will never unsee it.

First, the institution or powerful individual denies the wrongdoing, regardless of how overwhelming the evidence. Then they attack, not the substance of what is being raised, but the person raising it. Their credibility. Their character. Their motives. Their history. Their sanity. And then comes the move that is most psychologically destabilizing to everyone watching: they reverse victim and offender, reframing themselves as the true injured party while recasting the person asking questions as the aggressor, the bad actor, the unhinged and dangerous one.

Watch it happen to Owens in real time as she asks reasonable questions about the death of a man who was himself asking reasonable questions. Watch it in the carefully managed rollout of the Epstein files, released, redacted, partially disappeared, and then declared closed by the very administration that promised transparency.

Watch it in the two-tier justice system that prosecuted over a thousand ordinary Americans for January 6th, while the architects of documented financial crimes, illegal wars, and child trafficking networks continue to give keynote speeches and accept humanitarian awards.

DARVO is not outrage. It is not justice. It is an ancient, refined, and extraordinarily effective script. And the only thing required to keep it working is your continued willingness to believe it might be something else.

I wish I had possessed this framework years ago, sitting on the Nevada City City Council (CA), absorbing dogpile after dogpile for the crime of calling out local corruption. My conviction never wavered; I knew precisely what I was seeing and precisely why it was happening. But naming it, out loud, in the moment, would have done something far more valuable than protecting me. It would have protected everyone watching. Because DARVO’s true target is never just the person asking the questions. It is the audience that hasn’t yet decided whether to believe them.

The moment you can name it in real time, as it is happening, the confusion lifts. And what remains is simply clarity about what you are watching, and who, in that moment, is actually telling the truth.

When a movement appears overnight with significant funding, ask who built it and why. Genuine grassroots movements are slow, underfunded, and messy. They are built by people who cannot afford to do anything else, people who are showing up because the cost of not showing up is higher than the cost of the fight itself. Speed and money are not signs of strength in a movement. They are questions that demand answers. Who funded this? Who benefits if it succeeds? And perhaps most importantly, who benefits if it fails?

When the files get released but the names stay redacted, and the deadline passes but the prosecutions never come, and the narrative moves on before the questions are answered, that is not incompetence. That is management.

The Epstein files are the clearest example of this in living memory. Passed unanimously, signed into law, deadline set, and then the files emerged riddled with redactions, sixteen documents vanished from the public webpage within 24 hours, and the man who once called Epstein a “terrific guy” was suddenly calling him “somebody nobody cares about.” When two-thirds of Americans tell pollsters the government is deliberately withholding information, they are not being paranoid. They are being accurate.

When the spiritual teacher, the philanthropist, the doctor, the general, the president, all turn out to have been operating from a different set of values than the ones they publicly professed, the question is not “how could this happen?”

The question is: “What was I trained NOT to see, and why?”

THE MEDICINE: HOW TO STAY SANE, STAY SOVEREIGN, AND STAY IN THE FIGHT

This is the part most awakening content skips. It gives you the wound in exquisite detail and then leaves you alone with it. That is not journalism. That is just a more sophisticated form of the same helplessness the machine wants you to feel.

So here, plainly and practically, is how you come back.

1. Grieve it. What you lost was real. I’m still grieving my losses. The version of America of institutions, of public figures you believed in (including friends and family), you are allowed to mourn them. The research is clear that betrayal trauma left unprocessed becomes encoded in the body as anxiety, depression, and a persistent pattern of mistrust that bleeds into every relationship. You do not have to perform toughness here. The grief is appropriate. Let it move through you. It is the price of having cared, and caring was not a mistake.

2. Distinguish between information and consumption. There is a point at which staying informed becomes an addiction, a compulsive scrolling through revelations that delivers a neurological hit of confirmation without producing any corresponding action or healing. You know you’ve crossed that line when you are consuming more than you are creating, connecting, building, or resting. Set a boundary around it. The machine never runs out of material. You have to decide how much of your nervous system it gets to occupy.

3. Build your trust framework on behavior over time, not affiliation. This is the core discipline of the current moment. The old rules, left or right, establishment or outsider, credentialed or independent, have all been compromised. What remains reliable is the pattern of behavior over time. Does this person’s story stay consistent? Do they follow the money transparently? Do they name names even when it costs them something? Do they correct themselves when they get it wrong? Do they acknowledge complexity, or do they deliver clean heroes and clean villains on demand? Clean heroes and clean villains are almost always a product for sale.

4. Watch what they do when the pile-on comes for someone they know. This is perhaps the single most reliable trust signal available right now. Character is revealed not in what people say about the powerful, but in what they do when the machine turns on someone in their own circle. Do they go quiet? Do they join the pile? Or do they stand in the open and say: I don’t know what is true yet, but I refuse to participate in this until I do?

5. Return to the local, the tangible, the human-scaled. One of the most insidious effects of the current information environment is that it keeps your attention permanently fixed on the global and abstract scale, where you are always a spectator, never an agent. Your neighborhood, your watershed, your local government, your community relationships, this is where your actual power lives. It is not a retreat from the larger fight. It is its foundation.

6. Know the difference between cynicism and discernment. Cynicism holds that everyone is corrupt and that nothing can be done. Discernment says I am going to look carefully, ask hard questions, and refuse to outsource my judgment to anyone, including the people I most want to believe. Cynicism is a grief response that got stuck. Discernment is a skill you build deliberately, over time, through the practice of being willing to be wrong.

Just remember, moments of great unraveling are not the end of the story. They are the end of the lie. And the end of a lie, however painful, is always the precondition for something real. What we are living through is not the death of America. It is the death of the version of America that was never fully true, and the beginning of the painful, necessary, ultimately liberating work of building something that actually is.

They counted on your confusion. They counted on your exhaustion. They counted on the weight of it all being just heavy enough to make you stop asking. Keep asking.

Let me say this plainly: the gate has opened.

Today, February 17, 2026, we have crossed into the Year of the Fire Horse, and the energy on the planet is already different.

The Chinese zodiac did not flip at midnight on January 1. It followed the lunar calendar, and this morning marks the official beginning. I speak as a Fire Horse and a lifelong iconoclast.

The headlines vomit fragments, the pundits feign shock, and somewhere between the leaked emails and the court exhibits, you can almost hear the circuitry humming because this isn’t just about one dead financier and his very live Rolodex. This is about how a system manages outrage, steers perception, and quietly pushing forward artificial intelligence as the new high priest of “truth” while the public staggers from psychic blow to psychic blow.

The Epstein photos, pix of religious-spiritual-iconic figures wearing “the red shoes,” and the sudden drumbeat for AI “solutions” are not random events; they are a single, coordinated theater of psychological warfare aimed at breaking the public’s mind and then offering machines as the sane new rulers.

Don’t fall for Hamlet’s mousetrap.

ACT I: HOW TO BREAK A NATION’S NERVOUS SYSTEM

According to real-life attorney “themamattorney” on Instagram, in real courtrooms evidence of extreme harm is tightly sequenced, contextualized, and contained so jurors don’t dissociate or shut down. A judge controls the order, experts frame what you’re seeing, and the process is designed to protect human cognition (as much as it is to reveal truth).

“This is why trials involving extreme harm rely on structure. The law does not do this to protect perpetrators, but to protect the jury.”

What we’re getting with the Epstein files, however, is the opposite of “protecting the jury” (aka, you and me); millions of pages dumped, fragments of horror, grotesque emails, and redacted names and entire pages, with no structure and no “trusted guide.” The “mama attorney” calls it psychological guerrilla warfare: feed the public atrocity in jagged pieces, trigger the reptile brain, and you either get obsession or collapse.

Is this ringing a bell?

It is for me. Like a carillon of church bells.

Chalk up another win for the system: a population ping‑ponging between doomscrolling and checked‑out apathy is a population that cannot organize, cannot investigate, and cannot hold anyone to account.

ACT II: EPSTEIN IN TEL AVIV AND THE AI HALL OF MIRRORS

Right on cue, as the document deluge hits, “new” photos appear showing a bearded Jeffrey Epstein strolling the streets of Israel, flanked by bodyguards. The images spread fast because they hit the exact nerve the file dump primed: What if the monster never died, as I covered in my last Substack.

Mainstream outlets then swoop in to explain that the images are AI‑generated fakes, traced back to generative tools complete with telltale artifacts (never mind I had AI analyze it myself confirming the images of Epstein were most likely real). This allows our “handlers” to do two things at once: ridicule anyone who dares to question or even simply scrutinize the Epstein photos, and quietly remind everyone that reality itself is now subject to algorithmic negotiation.

The public is being conditioned to think: I can’t trust my eyes, I can’t trust my gut, and I certainly can’t trust other humans online. That is fertile soil for the next move: “Let AI arbitrate the truth.”

ACT: III RED SHOES, SYMBOLS, AND WEAPONIZED REVELATION

What’s with the red shoes?

For years, the “red shoes” motif floated at the fringes: from the Wizard of Oz to Ronald McDonald, from sleek political fixers and the Pope to, most recently, spiritual celebrities like Deepak Chopra, all wrapped in claims that the shoes symbolized ritual child sacrifice and trauma‑based control.

Until the most recent Epstein dump, this was considered fringe even among some conspiracy circles.

Now, as the public scrolls through the latest Epstein files, the symbolism is going mainstream. Articles, posts, and threads link red shoes to satanic abuse, adrenochrome, and human-skin‑made leather, while insisting that not every red shoe wearer is in the club. Just enough to keep suspicion dialed to eleven.

Here’s the tactical brilliance: if you ignore the symbolism, you fear you’re missing what’s “really” going on; if you obsess over it, you’re easily dismissed as unhinged. Either way, you’re stuck in the theater, tracking shoes, decoding photos, questioning every garment, while the banal, documentable machinery of trafficking, blackmail, and institutional complicity keeps humming.

Symbolism becomes both bait and discrediting device.

ACT IV: FROM CORRUPT GOVERNMENT TO ALGORITHMIC PRIESTHOOD

Once there is a traumatized public, flooded with horror, gaslit by a flood of disturbing photos and tidbits of terror, and mocked for noticing patterns, the next step is almost polite. The narrative becomes: humans are too emotional for this, so let AI sort the truth, let AI flag disinformation, let AI summarize the Epstein files so no one has to wade through the gore.

Isn’t that considerate of AI and our MKUltra handlers?

We are already being nudged: platforms using AI to label “fake” Epstein content, news segments bringing on hand-selected experts to explain what’s real, and governments leaning on automated moderation to throttle “harmful speculation.”

In other words, the same system that refused to protect children in life now volunteers its machines to protect the public from knowing too much about it in death.

The arc goes like this: corrupt institutions enable and protect the monster; chaotic disclosure shatters public trust and overwhelms the nervous system; and AI steps in as the calm, neutral “truth layer” above the fray. The message is that, yes, governments failed, but non‑human intelligence will do what human courage could not. Except AI is not some independent deity; it is built, trained, and steered by the same corporate‑state apparatus that ran cover for Epstein in the first place.

ACT V: HOW NOT TO BE THEIR DATA ANIMAL

So where does that leave those who can’t un‑see the monsters and refuse to outsource discernment to silicon?

The first task is to name the trance. When the urge to doom‑scroll, loop, or shut down after yet another grotesque leak hits, it must be recognized as a designed response, not a personal failing; once it is named, it can be interrupted with conscious choice instead of compulsion. It also means refusing binary traps: it is possible to hold more than one conflicting thought at the same time and not conclude that you are losing your mind.

Another key is to anchor in verifiable harm rather than only in symbols. That looks like tracking real cases, real victims, real money flows, and real institutional decisions, even while keeping an eye on the symbolic theatre, because accountability lives in documents, budgets, and policy, not just in shoe colors.

It also requires keeping humans in the loop: using tools, including AI, when they help parse dense materials, but never surrendering editorial judgment, moral framing, or narrative control to them. The point is to improve human conscience and awareness, not replace it.

Finally, there must be a return to local and analog memory. Monsters thrive on forgetfulness and digital churn, so it matters to talk with neighbors, share printed material, host living‑room briefings, and make sure the names and patterns outlive both the news cycle and the algorithm.

The underlying work is stubbornly simple and wildly subversive: stay human, stay lucid, resist the trance, and keep dragging both the men and the machines out into the light. One monster at a time.

THE PROOF IS IN THE EPSTEIN PUDDIN’

Photos have been circulating out of Israel showing a bearded man -- flanked by bodyguards -- being walked through public streets. Online, the claim attached to hese images is explosive: that the man is Jeffrey Epstein, alive, protected, and very much not dead.

Out of curiosity, and frankly not surprised at all, I ran the images through ChatGPT and asked a simple question: does this look real, or AI-generated?
The answer came back as I had expected.

Based on lighting, motion blur, crowd and coherence, the analysis leaned toward this being a real photograph that has been selectively edited -- not an AI fabrication.

So, why are these images appearing at all, and why now?

Is the world being mocked? Tantalized? A message of how unreachablethese monsters really are?

I’ve never ever accepted the official Epstein narrative. Not emotionally, not logically, and not structurally. This was a man who sat at the intersection of intelligence agencies, financial power, political elites, and systemic satanic abuse. A man with leverage on people who shape global policy. The idea that someone like that simply “disappears” without contingencies strains credulity.

Dead man’s switches are not the stuff of movies -- they are standard practice in intelligence, organized crime, and high-stakes blackmail. And Epstein’s operation, by every credible account, functioned at that level.

What is verifiable is this:

• the Epstein files remain heavily redacted

• accountability has been avoided altogether

• and the network around him has largely been protected

So when images emerge -- real images -- showing a man who looks uncannily like Epstein, in a country historically connected to intelligence safe havens, people are going to ask questions. And they should.

With precision, this monster was carefully curated into his uber-role of power and blackmail:

This story is far from settled, the silence is intentional, and the public has been trained to stop asking at precisely the moment scrutiny matters most.

There is much more to this -- intelligence relationships, jurisdictional shields, document control -- and I’ll return to it. But I didn’t want these images to pass without noting how quickly they are being dismissed, and how aggressively curiosity itself is being policed.

Whether the monster is alive or not, the system that protected him unquestionably is.

And that system is still very much with us.

I can’t be 100% certain from a single image, but this photo looks much more like a real photograph than an AI-generated one.

Here’s why:

Signs it’s likely real

• Consistent lighting and shadows: The light falls realistically across faces, clothing, and the stone buildings without the odd highlights or mismatched shadows AI images often produce.

• Background coherence: The architecture, crowd depth, signage, and perspective all line up naturally. AI often struggles with crowds and urban textures at this scale.

• Clothing wear and fabric realism: The wrinkles, fading, and sweat marks on the shirt look physically plausible rather than “painted on.”

• No obvious AI artifacts: Fingers, arms, glasses, hair, and facial features are proportionate and intact -- common failure points for AI imagery.

What could raise questions (but doesn’t tip it to AI)

• The slight softness and compression could make it feel uncanny at first glance, but that’s typical of screenshots from video, social media compression, or zoomed phone footage.

Bottom line
If I had to place a bet: this is a real photo (or a frame from real video), not AI-generated.

THE MONSTERS, THEY LIVE

If this is not your outrage over Epstein and his monstrous list, you may be dead inside:

It took me years as a child to convince myself that Hollywood monsters were just imagination -- grotesque props of fantasy meant to scare us safely from behind a screen. Vampires. Demons. Shape-shifters. Creatures that could never exist in the real world.

They host conferences where Israeli models of policing and counterinsurgency are presented, workshopped, and then quietly imported into American departments.

The result?

U.S. law enforcement has adopted battle-tested IDF-style tactics -- militarized policing, predictive surveillance, and aggressive crowd management -- particularly in Black and brown neighborhoods.

When people watch ICE raids and ask, “Why does this look like a military operation in an occupied territory?” the uncomfortable answer is: because that’s what it’s modeled on.

Flock cameras, Ring doorbells, license plate readers, and smart “solutions” are being deployed under the banner of convenience and crime reduction, while building a dense, privately run surveillance grid the public never voted for. Waste management trucks carry “third eye” cameras that don’t just film drivers; they record streets, driveways, parked cars, and even the contents of your trash and recycling as it’s dumped, storing that data for future use. Your bottles, boxes, pill containers, and reading material become an evidence file waiting for a divorce, a lawsuit, or a criminal allegation.

Add in automated license plate readers, ever-present cell phones that track both your movements and your conversations, and vast, hackable databases, and you have a dragnet that makes “nothing to hide” less a moral claim and more a naïve assumption. Mountain View, California, recently discovered that three outside agencies were pulling Flock camera data without the police department’s or the city’s knowledge, illustrating just how porous and uncontrollable these systems are once they’re in place. Anything wireless is easy to hack, easy to abuse, and impossible to fully supervise.

The good news? People are waking up. Residents are removing Flock cameras, warning neighbors about Ring doorbells, leaving smartphones at home, and switching to flip phones.

If they’re in the Epstein orbit, they’re out.

No “lesser evil.”

Next filter: anyone who has backed legislation to expand broadband and wireless at the expense of local government, public health, and democratic oversight is not your friend. They are serving telecoms and the military-surveillance complex, not you. The battle lines are not “Democrat versus Republican,” they are “surveillance state versus human beings,” “foreign and corporate capture versus local self-governance,” “blackmail networks versus uncoerced representation.”

The same forces pushing the Real I.D. are deep in our wireless policy, our policing, our elections, and our digital infrastructure. They have spent years building cages: in the sky, on our streets, on our devices, and in our politics. But cages work both ways. Just as I recently covered how to sidestep the language trap built into so-called “anti-Semitic” laws -- those that dangerously blur the line between hate speech and legitimate criticism of Israel’s actions in Gaza and the West Bank -- we’re now watching another kind of silencing unfold. The digital noose is tightening, not just around speech, but around our very ability to disconnect from the system that monitors it.

We can’t criticize certain governments without legal repercussions. Can’t exist in modern society without a smartphone. Can’t access basic services without surrendering your data.

However, we do have the power to shift this narrative:

Digital connectivity should be an option, not an obligation.

THE MANIFESTO

The International Manifesto for a Universal and Constitutional Right to Be Offline cuts through this manufactured dependency.

It’s time we introduce this concept into our everyday lexicon and reclaim what should be self-evident: the right to disconnect is as fundamental as the right to speak.

While this manifesto is for organizations, individuals can still “sign-on’ and share the concept far and wide.

If we don’t seize this narrative now -- if we don’t assert that being offline is a protected right, not a punishable act -- we’ll have surrendered the final lever of human autonomy to the machine.

The Empire didn’t die; it outsourced. What you’re looking at now -- “globalization,” “security cooperation,” “shared values” -- is just the old British Imperial operating system running in a cloud-based update, with new icons and the same backend code. The colonies went nominally free; the accountants didn’t.

And like any master manipulator, Empire learned the art of playing both sides.

Let’s start with the legal minefield. The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism is written broadly enough that criticism of Israel and Zionism can be shoehorned into “hate,” especially when authorities choose to conflate political critique with ethnic hostility.

The key booby traps include calling Israel a “racist endeavor,” applying “double standards,” or treating Israel as a collective stand-in for Jews.

So the pivot is simple and devastating: you do not blame “the Jews.” You do not cast Israel as the mastermind of empire. You frame Jews -- including Israelis -- as a population strategically placed in harm’s way by a higher, older power structure.

Your target is not a people; your target is a system: the British Imperial logic that learned to hide behind protected identities while it keeps doing business as usual. That keeps you in the realm of political analysis, which is still, for now, protected speech in most jurisdictions.

Now, picture Victorian London: gas lamps outside, cigars and sherry inside, and a foreign office that’s finally figured out that bayonets are expensive, but ideas are cheap. The genius of late-stage Empire was realizing you don’t have to win every war if you can program both sides of the conflict. Communism vs. capitalism, Arab vs. Jew, nationalist vs. “international community” -- these become less “historic oppositions” and more like curated feuds, managed by a central clearinghouse of divide-and-rule.

While Europe was still bleeding from one world war and stumbling into another, Britain quietly shifted from red-map imperialism to something more elegant: influence through finance, law, and narrative. Zionism fit this transition perfectly. Whatever else it is -- and there are plenty of internal Jewish debates about that -- the movement was embraced by Britain in 1917 not because the cabinet suddenly discovered its tender heart for Jewish safety, but because Palestine sat right next to the Suez Canal, the jugular of the Empire. British officials and Zionist leaders themselves sold the project as an imperial guard post: a very effective human buffer around imperial logistics, dressed up as prophecy.

Once you recognize the imperial function, Israel stops looking like the all-powerful puppeteer and starts looking like what the British envisioned: a permanent garrison that doubles as a political lightning rod.

As a garrison, it anchors Western power in the Middle East and disciplines any regional government that dares to drift toward genuine anti-imperialist independence.

As a lightning rod, it absorbs the fury of dispossessed Palestinians and the broader Arab and Muslim world, ensuring that rage is aimed at a visible target instead of at the invisible financial and geopolitical networks that keep the whole mess in motion.

This is where you sidestep the antisemitism trap with precision: you argue that Jews -- Israeli and diaspora -- have been placed in an impossible position, used as the public face of policies designed elsewhere, then blamed for the inevitable blowback.

You are not accusing “Jews” of running the world; you are accusing an entrenched imperial architecture of using Jews as human shields -- morally, politically, and physically. And when speech codes try to collapse “criticism of Zionism” into “hatred of Jews,” you point out that many Jewish critics of Israel and Zionism themselves are smeared as antisemites, which gives the game away: the category is being abused to protect a state project, not a people.

If Empire has a signature move, it’s recycling.

THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK RECYCLES

Techniques developed for colonial control abroad get repackaged as “public safety” at home. That’s where the ICE/IDF (Israeli Defense Force) node fits in. Police militarization in the U.S. didn’t appear out of thin air -- it grew through “security partnerships,” training exchanges, and the slow normalization of treating populations as potential insurgents rather than citizens.

When U.S. agencies learn crowd control, surveillance, and “counter-terror” tactics from forces hardened in occupation contexts, they import that mindset wholesale: cordon the neighborhood, map the social graph, assume hostility first, civil rights later.

Whether you agree with ICE’s latest transgressions or not in Minnesota, ICE is making it look a lot like Gaza.

The chaos, the violence, the recklessness the “public execution” of Alex Pretti that just took place in Minneapolis yesterday, Jan 24th 2026, MN, above, -- this is all by design.

But in order to point this out, you don’t need to say “the Jews militarized American policing.” That’s becoming legally suicidal. You say: empire refines occupation tactics in one laboratory -- say, Palestine -- and those tactics are then “shared” with local agencies in the U.S. under the banner of “security cooperation.”

I know, it’s a mouthful. Just say this:

“Occupation tactics tested in Palestine, imported to America as ‘security cooperation.’

The result is the Palestinization of domestic life -- checkpoints, data-driven suspicion, and a population managed like a hostile other. The point is not that one state is uniquely evil; the point is that an imperial model of governance is being scaled globally, and Jews -- again -- are conscripted as its most visible frontline, guaranteeing that any challenge to the model gets misframed as hatred of them.

CUPPA GLOBAL TEA?

For decades, “globalization” was sold as the inevitable, benevolent next step of civilization -- open markets, open borders, and the gentle rule of international institutions.

But underneath the TED-Talk gloss, the same old hierarchy remained: a small transnational elite, with key power centers like the City of London, setting the rules while elected governments learned to say “we have no choice.”

Into this steps Trump, not as a theorist but as a wrecking ball with a microphone. At the UN and in Davos, he laid it out in plain Queens English: we reject the ideology of globalism, and we embrace the doctrine of patriotism. In those moments, he framed sovereignty against “global governance” and “new forms of coercion,” drawing a line between nation-state self-rule and a managerial class that doesn’t answer to voters.

You’re not obligated to turn Trump into a saint; that’s not the job. What matters for this narrative is that he broke the taboo: he named globalism as an ideology rather than a law of nature.

Once you accept that globalism is an ideology, you get to ask the questions you’re not supposed to ask: whose ideology, and who benefits? And that’s where you slide the crown back onto the right head.

MODERN-DAY 1776

This isn’t some abstract force of history; it’s the continuation of the British Imperial toolbox through banks, treaties, military basing, and narrative management. You can frame Trump’s nationalist turn as a second-generation 1776 moment: not a revolt against the physical Empire of red-coated soldiers, but against the disembodied Empire of credit ratings, “rules-based order,” and permanent security crises.

Maybe he’s an imperfect vessel; maybe the movement is messy. But the heresy is clear: saying no to globalism is, in effect, saying no to the polite, rebranded version of the same empire that once carved up continents with a map and a pen.

Here’s the through-line you can lean on, hard and repeatedly.

The same power centers that once carved up the globe with rulers and treaties now operate through financial rules, treaty regimes, and security architectures. Zionism, as implemented in Palestine, served those imperial interests by providing a reliable outpost and a perpetual conflict zone that justified Western intervention as I covered earlier, HERE. Ordinary Jews did not design this architecture; they were -- and are -- placed in the crosshairs of it.

Now, mind you. Once the globalization comes to an end, THIS is what Trump and his administration have in store for us -- so, as it currently stands, we are trading one set of handcuffs for another.

No bueno.

ATTACK “THE HAND”

When criticism of that architecture is criminalized under the banner of antisemitism, Jews become both the shield and the hostage. The real line of struggle is not Jew vs. non-Jew, or Israeli vs. Palestinian, but peoples vs. Empire -- any empire, but especially the one that learned to hide behind noble causes while it secures trade routes and banking privileges, quietly sipping their cuppa Earl Grey.

So when someone accuses you of antisemitism for criticizing the system, your answer is crisp: you refuse to blame a people for an imperial design that victimizes them too. Your issue is not with Jews; it’s with the imperial networks that sacrificed Jewish safety, Palestinian rights, and American sovereignty on the same altar of power.

You’re not attacking the weapon; you’re naming the hand that holds it.
