The problem is that people believe in government. They truly believe government is there to help them. Nothing could be further from the truth. The people have to help themselves. We all need to get off this illusion, this fiction called government. We can do that by all pitching in and forming groups of like-minded people and networking for mutual benefit. Forget about government, they don't give a flying fig about you.
Yes and sadly this ‘demographic of people’ (registered voters) in this neighborhood likely did vote for a few of these City and County elected officials who have now ignored them. This cataclysmic event that destroyed their neighborhood has been their ‘wake up’ event, that ‘The Government’ is not there for them.
Reinette the thing is that we can easily miss is that voting on people has absolutely no meaning whatsoever. The people can be bought and once they're in, they want to do as they're expected to by the controllers not by the constituents (except for the very very few who are genuine) They too however are being hoodwinked because they believe government works. It only works to debilitate us but they do sprinkle a few crumbs occasionally. What we need to be able to vote on is proposals. This is where the juice is! Voting on proposals is what has meaning. But they would never agree to that!
Yes this ‘event’ in this neighborhood as well as other areas of San Diego was their ‘Come to Jesus’ moment. Where they woke up to the fact that the ‘elected officials’ that they likely voted for, if they do actually vote, are truly not on the ‘side of the people’, especially the poor ones. 😏😔
That is a very poignant point - the people who were struck by the criminal neglect of the city and count reps were responsible for believing in the fiction of government. And yeah, this should give them a rude awakening. I had a woman friend who believed that the way to change things is through the systrem. We agrued at length about this with me saying there is no way to fix the system because the system is working perfectly fine, exactly as it was meant to work. She spent the next few years putting her heart and soul into working within the system until she gave up in disgust herself.
People are holding on to the system because it still gives some sense of law and order and possible restitution. It's a rude awakening because people still want to trust and believe in the goodness of humanity including the government. Also because People defer to those in positions of authority, much like children who are taught to subjugate to parents, who may or not be good, loving and wise.
Once the system fully crashes, so does any semblance of what's left of law and order. That avalanche of consequence brings a huge amount of fear - the emotion that activates all sorts of reactions. I pray we'll wake up and unify as One before that SHTF.
I recommend the film, 'The Giver' with Jeff Bridges. It's all about how the system controls the freedom of the individual and interjects itself between the individual and the Divine.
Undoutedly obediently voting for the Democrats on the bilingual endorsement cards fluttering out of their mailboxes, or the mandamientos of local activists.
You want competency and cleared out drainage? Elect a retired military man. Want incompetence and money wasted on sociological BS?, elect a young ideologue with no real world experience.
Sad because people of the county have given up. I alongside a handful of others out of 3.4 million people have been holding the line at these county meetings. I've already had personal one on one encouters with this chairwoman who is a lying sack of shit, as I already mentioned to Mellisa, minus the audience watching. We dont have flocks of followers, we dont care about that stuff. We pay close attention because we know whats coming around the corner and Humanity needs to wake up and come together. We do it not for the applause but for the love of Humanity.

On March 5th the residents of the Town of San Anselmo, Marin County are being asked to vote on whether or not to "withdraw the Town of San Anselmo, including all parcels of land in the Town from the Marn County Flood Control and Water Conservation District Zone Nine". The town council and former mayors (corrupt I can bet) with the mentioning of FEMA want a "Yes" vote and the editorial section of the Independent Journal is suggesting we all vote "No" and remain the the flood control district. There are 13 "whereases" and I don't understand a one. My only question why are we even voting on protecting the land from flooding - shouldn't this be a given - yes?
