BigGuy, do you have any specific recommendations? I have mosquitos from last year's winter... still in my freezer.

Depending on the state in which you live, there should be a local (in your county) extension agent for the state's Department of Natural Resources. The agent should be able to direct you to the state's entomologist who identifies pests to monitor if there is any sudden appearance / introduction of a foreign bug / invasive species that could be destructive to local plants, livestock, and humans.

That is the starting process I would follow if I found an unusual insect had started appearing despite never before having been seen in my area, and lacking any online reports of it by authorities in your area who had identified it.

If that hit a dead end, then I would seek an entomologist from the University of Maryland (my state of residence) since I know they have experts in agriculture and wildlife. Perhaps your state has equivalent studies / expertise at the state university.
