We can start by refusing to buy stuff that needs batteries and use electric like gardening and power tools.
Easier said than done.
That is true because these tools don't last as long on a charge and a plug is not always available. We need to start someplace and avoid using batteries as much as possible. Look around, most of us are totally dependant on batteries and with this plant buying down batteries are just going to cost more. I do think people are becoming more aware that these EV cars are not safe or environmentally beneficial - it was all a sale pitch to sell cars.
The EV cars are the first place to start. The likelyhood of ending smaller bettery use, especially hand tools and garden tools ending soon or starting there is a huge job killer negatively effecting a lot of small time workers. Going back to the older battery system pre lithium could be an option for hand and garden tools.
Contractors and landscapers need "some" battery operated tools. But lawn mowers and such, no. All gasoline. I stopped buying batteries. I stopped buying things that need batteries. They sell rechargeable EVERYTHING including batteries that you plug into for a charge. They sell 15.00 mini solar panels that will charge a phone in one hour. We need a combination of technologies to win.
