I'm a native Californian octogenarian, grew up in San Diego, HS in LA, college at Pomona in Claremont, deserted CA for grad school at LSU for engagement with civil rights movement, then US Army duty in Tacoma as psychologist during VN war, then child psychologist at St. John's Hosp./Kennedy Child Study Center in Santa Monica living at Venice Beach, moved closer to central LA 10 years, then relocated to Eugene Oregon with countryside and foothills much like yours in the Sierras.
With my dearest friend Mariah (who recently sent you information on Israel/Palestine) we provided a weekly public display adjoining our Saturday Market on this topic for about a decade that included a pretty comprehensive website ( www.al-nakba-history.com) addressing the major questions of visitors.

I try not to ingest too much of the traumatic stuff... but still pay attention, being in one of the targeted groups.
There was a positive community event in Houston yesterday I chose not to go to , to avoid any violence that might target the event.
I wondered if I was being over-vigilant, but then last night I saw that the Houston police had indeed arrested a person who intended to do violence on our group.
So I'm being as positive as I can, ignoring a lot of the negative BS, but also realistic. Hopefully I can stay balanced.

The fact that so, so, so, SO many people are choosing to continue their divisive mockingbird words and ways should not surprise us, but it nevertheless does. Where is the heart-mind connection for these people? Why do they NOT choose the path of true love, harmony, justice, peace?
It's the Machine Mind programming. Maybe there is still time for them to wake up.
Meanwhile, I continue to do my psycho-spiritual work. I'm not taking any chances with the one life I have to live.

But I miss the trees, streams and rocks and hills. I, too, have been taking time each day to ground outside. It is true that our nervous system 'takes on' the images and violence, even if our intellect knows it is not happening to us personally. I agree with you - it is a good idea to be thoughtful about the content and time spent online. I unsubscribed to the updates that were filling my inbox with repeating content, and also those that still fail to focus on the overarching control. Thank you for the lovely hike.
