What can we do" Honestly, I have been hoping that someone with some know-how will do something! And here you are. I just adore you. You are an amazing human being with such a huge heart. I’m turning 60 in May :)) and one question about life keeps getting thrown at me over and over - and that is “Why do we have to fight so much just to live and thrive?” -- I feel like John Lennon when I think about imagining America as the best-- with no pesticides on our foods, no disabling kids with vaccines starting at one day old, no handing out drugs that are known addictions, no cancer causing talcum in baby powder, no fake meat, no cancer causing food dye on skittles omg, no vaccines propagating HIV/aids, no chemicals in our food-duh! And we wonder why the US is so ill. Maybe it all started with legalizing cigarettes, who knows. America could have been #1.
Reinette---We are 21st century pioneers. No we do not have Calistoga Wagons and snorting equines for transport, though we still refer to "horsepower." No we are slogging our way through a forest of propaganda, a desert-barren of truth, a swamp thick with a sucking mud of censorship. We are attacked by ignorant, well-meaning, former friends and stressed relatives. We must be alert for "incoming" attacks from those who either gain from dominance or those whose doubts and insecurities are minimized when they seek out or cultivate compliance in people they trust and respect ---but also fear because they/we might bring to them a kernel of truth which is uncomfortable.
You,---you brave spirit, who shrinks not from challenge and who throws yourself into the snake-pit of controversy---are an example of living big, living in love and living to create a "we, us and our world." Some of us have Reinette Senum, and if we are lucky, a few more, good souls whose shoulder we can reach out and touch as we grope in the darkness in search of truth and, to co-create a symbiotic culture.
Thanks for the reassurance and Thanks for the poke with the sharp stick of reality when I drift into comfortable moments of complacency.
